The devil's number 666 is the number of sections of portico in this walkway up from Bologna to the sanctuary St. Luca. Some sections are fairly steep and good shoes and water are recommended but when you reach the top the view over Bologna and...More

The view is outstanding, just priceless. Due to the heat (temperature above 35 degrees) we skipped the walk to the top and hopped on the express train instead. Easy and quickly way to the top, cost was 10 euro.

Start at Piazza Saragozza and you can’t miss the beginning of the archways which then heads continuously all the way to the top. I am slightly surprised to read reviewers commenting on how arduous a walk this is - it’s not really. The ground is...More

The best way to do this walk is downhill! You can easily accomplish this by taking the tourist train in the main square. You will arrive near San Luca church. The walk up to the church is short, and the views are stunning. Then start...More

We took the tourist transport (San Luca Express) from the main square, then walked back to town along the portico. If we'd had more time we would have planned to walk both ways. This was an excellent trip and the portico is beautiful. We did...More

Swallow your pride and take the silly tourist toy train up the hill. Tickets are available in the tourist office but they direct you to buy on the train whilst the train staff direct you to buy in the tourist office. Either way you face...More

We walked up the Porticos all the way to the top and back. You need to be reasonably fit to do this. There is also a bus that goes to the top. From there you have a nice view.
