First, the location for the start of this attraction is wrong and rather than starting at Piazza Maggiore, the start is at Porta Saragozza. You can get there from Piazza Maggiore but you need a guidebook. Once at Porta Saragozza you proceed through the 666...More

This portico with 666 arches, all numbered leads to San Luca on the hill. Well worth visiting, it’s the climb. I was happy because I had my trainers on.

great experience to walk the portico di san luca, its fairly tough but worth it beautiful church to visit at the top and if you want to you can pay 5 euros to climb another 100 steps to the dome to get a great view,...More

It’s great for your step-count, and for working off all the local cuisine, but it is a challenge so think carefully before trying to follow the whole portico to the Basilica, especially with younger children.

You start from the Porta Saragozza and you don't really know what to expect until you start the climb and notice the numbers , for each arc there is a number , when you think you have reached it surprises you with yet another climb...More
