The ancient walls were built to protect the city from Barbarians and other invaders in its history. You will find parts of the wall around the city, some of it is well preserved.

How fascinating to think these walls still stand after all these time. As a tourist it was definitely worth seeing the walls and touching them knowing how long ago they were built. Hope Rome looks after things like this for future generations.

The Roman walls are much like any of the walled cities in Italy. They were constructed to keep their citizens safe from outside attacks or infiltration. A concept most citizens still support.

You are likely to see Roman walls all over Rome. They are in many parts of the city, in the centre and further afield. They are a reminder of times past. They were built over time by various emperors for defensive purposes.
