The walk getting to this place was such an eye opener- we went via Vicco della Pace, a narrow alley with lots of friendly ladies beckoning me in for what, I have no idea! This was mid-day!
Caravaggio is amazing- it's not cheap.
This small octagonal church with 7 chapels is spectacular. The main attraction-on the main altar is Caravaggio's masterpiece 'Le 7 opera di Misericordia'-the 7 Acts of Mercy. The other 7 altars feature paintings by local painters who were greatly influenced by Caravaggio. It is easy...More
This is a very ancient institution founded in 1600 by 7 nobles to serve Neaple poor people in the name of "pietas". What is the meaning of being mercyful? The 7 acts of mercyare depicted in the big altar painting of Caravaggio, inside the church....More
We came here, like most, to see Caravaggios The Seven Works of Heaven.
The painting is pretty fantastic and you should take some time to truly take it in.
However, there is in fact quite a bit more of interest here and try and allow...More
This massive altar painting by Caravaggio occupies centre spot for all the right reasons and although there is an entry charge, its worth it to see this masterpiece.
The museum occupies the upper floors and its worth a wander around but the really special experience...More
This is an opportunity to see works of art hung where they were intended to be hung rather than in an art gallery. There is more to see than the paintings - even if you are not interesting in artwork, there is the building itself...More
While the Caravaggio contained within this church is magnificent, it is required to purchase tickets to the museum above, containing a picture gallery and church vestments. The gallery is interesting, but average in quality, affording views outside that are more interesting. Perhaps only worth it...More
This chapel and small art gallery is just round the corner from the Duomo or Cathedral in Naples. The elegant, circular chapel houses what many believe is Caravaggio's greatest masterpiece. You'll be able to identify it immediately as it simply jumps out at you. The...More
Napoli is rich in religious structures; whether medieval, gothic or baroque. This chapel stands exceptionally aloe in its intimacy, beauty, quiet and the fact that it holds one of Caravaggio's masterpieces. G.

Hi Thank you for the kind words
Caravaggio in Naples is available in three important structures: Pio monte della Misericordia, Capodimonte Museum , Palazzo Zavallos . The three structures are all available and open to the public .Yes Caravaggio is unique for the real sense of life you can admire in his paintings ... the all five senses vibrate in front of his masterpieces and the enthusiasm alive always ... natural but ethereal at the same time .ciao marina de martino from naples
