Answer: too many to count. I was amazed by the ornate artistry in this cathedral, including many golden candlesticks, inlaid wood and various types of pictures. The large diorama of the nativity scene in Sorrento, fairly takes your breath away.

I tend not to going inside many Churches, but I was glad I entered this one. The Paintings on the ceiling are very impressive, along with the wood inlaid panels depicting the stations of the cross

The Sorrento Cathedral (Duomo), dedicated to the Saints Philip and James, has a simple exterior. It's interior is much more ornate with a beautiful painted ceiling and several interesting features. The highlight for me was the large, intricate nativity scene which incorporated a scene of...More

The cathedral doesn't look very exciting from the outside but it is quite beautiful inside. Lovely marble columns along the nave supporting a spectacular painted ceiling. Just inside the main entrance is a nativity scene behind glass in the Neapolitan tradition. There are also toilets...More

This rather unheralded cathedral was a pleasant surprise. We arrived just as a christening ceremony was ending, a ritual that had been taking for centuries even before Sorrento's great Renaissance poet Tasso was baptized here. It was great to see it as a working church,...More

Situated in the centre of town you could easily walk by this place. It is a beautiful building both day and night when it is floodlit. Serene inside. Worth a visit.

The main Cathedral of Sorrento is a manificent church with beautiful interior decoration as one expects in Italy. It has numerous side alters to various Saints.

A busy Cathedral with quite often either a marriage or funeral taking place. The decorations for marriages are magnificent. The church itself holds many interesting items and as it is on the main road through town a must to drop in and see.
