After reading many positive reviews about the Duomo, we tried visiting on a Sunday. The church was closed, so we were disappointed. However, we were able to view the courtyard, and it was lovely. We will go back during the week.

No one does cathedrals like Catholics! Of all the cathedrals we have seen in Italy this trip this one tops the charts. The knaves are stunning and the crypt beneath the altar will take your breath away. Don’t miss it.

This Duomo contains its own Saint. And the nod to middle eastern architectural style was extraordinary

The cathedral of Salerno is a real mix of styles with a hidden treasure in its crypt. The courtyard is Moorish influenced and almost looks like a mosque. The interior is plain compared to other big cathedrals but the mosaics in the apses are incredible....More

The Cathedral holds a Baroque pre-entrance with the so called Porta dei Leoni, or Gate of the Lions, which dates from the early beginnings of the Cathedral, so the 11th century. Entering I found myself in the entrance portico which is surrounded by beautiful 11th...More

A delightful cathedral with many interesting features and history. Worth a visit for the crypt alone (there's small fee, 2 euros I think) which is a riot of painting and decoration.

If you get a chance to visit Salerno make sure you visit the Duomo. The church has some beautiful artwork and architecture but the Crypt downstairs is amazing and beautiful.

This is a large and beauiful duomo. This duomo has a lovely There bell tower, mismatched columns from anicent Rome. amazing, gilded mosaics above the pulpits, and a giant crypt that is covered in marble and mosaics.

Pictures at the Crypt are amazing and worth seeing one by one. Sometimes they are funny too. And it's a wonderful quiet place to seat and think about what we are.

There is no entrance fee, and by the way don't forget to visit the crypt.
