There are MANY churches in Matera, but this is one of my favorites. I like to slip away and go in and just have a quite moment to myself and just enjoy the beauty and history of this church.

All churches in Matera have a beauty. They are generally simple in layout and enjoyable places to spend a few minutes contemplation. This is no exception.

The 'frescoes' are worth the visit to any of the churches in Matera. Do not walk by, go in and see. Most are free of charge.

I totally fell in love with this church. Romanesque architecture is my absolute favourite, simple but stunning!

The façade of the church is exquisite, as is the internal decoration, but the surprise is that you don't enter into the central nave, but the façade is actually the lateral entrance. This bit of disorentation is quite exciting and unique.

Interresting architecture. A place for meditation. A little square in front of it where children were playing.

Another charming and detailed construction of a church in the historic port of Matera. Well with a visit if you find yourself walking thru Sassi di Matera.

This church is located close to where we're staying. My favorite part is it's facade. It's easy to find and worth a visit.
