Just steps from Catalunya square you can see some of the most astounding architectural gems in the city. The Casa Amattler, the Casa Batllo, and the Casa Mila. The latter two are Gaudi masterpieces. The interior tours are crowded and pricey, but the exterior views are free to all.

I live in Barcelona and I always wanted to do the 'modernist tour' on my own but never found the right guide. Then one day a friend showed me this fantastic map/guide to visit the modernist sites in the city (not only buildings, but also parks, museums, markets...). The next day I was so anxious to take a walk around my neighbourhood (I live very near the Sant Pau hospital and the Sagrada Familia!) with this particular map, that I bought one online (www.barcelonamodernista.com). Well, the next weekend, when I had the time and the map, I decided to do the tour on my own and I had a wonderful time! Highly recommended!!!
