Islantilla is for the travellers who want to relax and enjoy local life without it being too tourist like. The main attraction to the area is the 27hole course that weaves around hotels and villa complexs but there are other pulls to the areas:
During the summer season the narrow but long beach can be very busy near the center of town due to the influx of many city types taking a beach break, but a short 15 minute walk down the seafront and you'll arrive at a less crowded part and you'll have the ability to drink in bars and have ocean views.
Unfortunately during the off peak season, most of the bars and restaurants are either closed or not open for very long, so you have to stick to the various hotel facilities.
The sunny town of Islantilla comes alive around 7.30pm. The court yard of the shopping mall floods with people, which is a welcome site, (given most shops and some bars shut early for siesta and open around 7.30). There is a range of restaurants and bars to choose from, ranging from The Good Burger Co making tasty fast food and restaurant Italiano upstairs which serves freshly prepared pizzas and pasta.
Make sure when considering which hotel to stay in that you check distance from the front as many Golfing hotels are set back in land. Some have shuttle road train to the front in peak times but not on off season.

Whether it's golf or the beach, the town of Islantilla is the perfect sunny getaway.

Super area for a holiday

We fly into Faro and then rent a car for the drive over the border into Spain. The area is beautiful, lovely white sandy beaches that stretch for miles, friendly people and lots of good tapas.

It'so particularly nice in October (30 degrees today) and quiet. Lots of good golfing in this area too.
