What a fantastic beach. I’m not sure how many miles it stretches for, but it’s so long and wide it never seems full, even at a weekend. There is a good choice of chiringuitos along the beach and plenty of showers and toilets, particularly closer to Sancti Petri.
Being on the Atlantic there are some good waves but you have to go out a fair way till the water gets deep.

A glorious stretch of beach by the Riu Chiclana Hotel where we stayed 12th to 19th May.
A wooden staircase leads across the mighty dunes down to the golden sand which stretches along the Spanish southwestern coast for 6 kilometres (3.7 miles). The waves of the Atlantic Ocean wash up on to the shore.
Some bars/restaurants were open along the beach others were in the process of preparing to open. There were some sunbeds and umbrellas available to hire.
Such a long beach and ideal spot for walking. It was a bit chilly when we were here and people were paddling in the sea rather than braving it and swimming.
The area was the site of the Battle of Barrosa in 1811. The Park of the Battle, memorial park, commemorating the Battle is nearby. The defensive tower Torre Bermeja is another feature.

I love this beach. I spent my teen years here and keep coming back even though I live in the UK. It's one of the best, cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the area.

One of my favourite beaches in Cadiz, very long, with fine white sand and plenty of bars and restaurants and places where you can rent shady mattresses. Easy to find and to access.

Come and see. If you live in Europe, you don't have to fly to Thailand or Africa. Go to the Atlantic Coast "Costa de la Luc" in South Spain /Andalucia.

I love this beach, you can walk relaxed and have beautiful views, and an amazing sunrise and sunset. The sand of the beach is clean and amazing to walk without shoes, you can find magic places like Hercules Castle...

Just love the beach here. Great to sit on and people watch. Walk along it to stretch your legs. Get a boogie board and surf in the waves. Swim. Macaroons from the lovely seller.

Off season a real treat, the water still warm but not many people at the beach. Amazing for long walks

Although the water is on the chilly side the beach is beautiful, nice and the beach clubs give good service in food and drinks.

Proper Brit abroad question but… is there anywhere to watch Premier League football in the area?
I have been here a few weeks but struggling to find somewhere.

Hi I'm looking at going to the Rui next year and wondered if there are sun beds with shade available anywhere on the beach near to the hotel please? I have lupus so some shade is super important. Thanks.

Hola!
