This is one of the first "sights" I saw in the old town, as my hotel is very nearby. I'll confess that I didn't make my way there for the entrance itself, but for the statue of one of Cordoba's favorite sons, the ancient Roman...More

Puerta del Almodovar is one of several gates which give access to the historical centre and this one leads to the Jewish Quarter.

The walled part of the historic city center is well preserved. On your way along the fortification, you will pass the lovely Puerta del Almodóvar.

The true is that there is no shortage of interesting places in Cordoba. This is one of the many areas where a visitor must stop for a while and try to feel the history and the beauty of the ancient city.

There are better gates to see but I guess after a long walk in the Jewish quarter everything looks spectacular. Near the gate is the statue of Seneca, another great man from this city.

This is the entrance to the Jewish quarter, with its beautifully paved streets. Another addition to Cordoba's charm and beauty.

At one end of Calle Cairuán adjacent to a myriad of restaurants is the Puerta del Almodóvar. It is a beautiful stone arch in the entrance to the Juderia. It really is just an arch but interesting because it forms part of the mystique that...More

If you were coming from inland this gate was the main entrance to city and it was located opposite to the Roman bridge. It was also the entrance to the Jewish quarter. It was built by the Moors along with 8 other gates.
