We were able to walk around the Cathedral and look at the building however to gain entry there was a fee. It is located in the city of Almeria surrounded by tall palm trees.

The contrast between the squat, flat roofed exterior and the beautifully worked interior is remarkable, it doesn't look like a Cathedral. No dreaming spires here then, but the cathedral was built at a time when marauding raiders could perhaps identify a rich target from the...More

This substantial pile of stone is in the center of town and has an entry fee of 5 euros, not the best price-quality relationship for Cathedrals in Spain. That said it is still impressive and worth visiting and if you are patient enough to use...More

Almería Cathedral was built in the sixteenth century and was designed as a place of prayer and of refuge. This was because the shores of Almería were continually under attack from Turks and Berbers and so it was used as a place of safety as...More

Another of the so many catedrals in Spain with a little museum. Entrance fee of 5 euro pp is rather expensive.

I visited here today. Was such a stunning cathedral! I have just found out that if we had visited after 6pm it would have been free (something to bare in mind) we paid 5€ each. Although it was beautiful to look around, I found it...More

Although the cathedral building is an interesting place to visit. having to pay 5 euros per person is excessive. I don't understand that the historic Alkazaba (Moorish castle) is free to enter for UE citizens and on the contrary the Christian cathedral has a relatively...More

This is a rather peculiar building including the Cathedral, the annexes and a fortress that tells a whole lot about the wars against the Moors. The interior is enormous, with a strange mixture of austerity and pompous decorations. Recommended
