We had our Christmas dinner in the toll hall and I was very disappointed. We had booked from 4pm to 7pm. At 5.45 pm we were not allowed to order anything because they had to stock up for a wider company from 6 pm. The waiter was very unfriendly. He didn't even say thank you for tips. To have the rest of the food packed you had to pay 1 euro extra. The food itself was low average. The roast pork was fine. The schnitzel was flaky rather than crispy and the potato salad was like canteen food. For the prices something much better expected. When asked if you could get half a portion, the waiter was very unfriendly and sent me to the boss. He didn't even look at me, but only at his PC. Popped my senior card, told me to pick something and just for once and not tell anyone. I didn’t have much time to choose, because the card was taken away from me again. I felt like I was in a mass check-in. The only positive was the decoration on the ceiling which made it very Christmassy. There was no decoration at the tables. Conclusion My first and last visit.

Saw this opposite our hotel and its beautiful. It was rebuilt after the war which is why there are two dates on the building. Inside a few shops and a rather nice brewery

In the city of Nuremberg you can see the “Mauthalle” a famous building who has being built around the year 1500 and this by by Hans Behaim, “Mauthalle or tollgate” has initially served as a granary to supply the inhabitants of Nuremberg. But a second function was added about 70 years later: the municipal customs office moved in. From now on goods from all over the world were checked and weighed here. Nice building to visit on a sightseeing in the city.

I believe that this building has been rebuilt on its original locale since most of the city was destroyed during WWII. The bottom half is brick (which would not have been used in the Middle Ages) and the upper half is timber. It now houses numerous shops on the ground floor. Worth a quick photo or two.

Huge midieval structure, half timbered and stone construction. Located right on the main thoroughfare The Konigstrasse in the Old Town.. Originally a granary and customs house, it now serves as a department store!!! Oh well, I guess that's progress!

It's right across from the Gideon Hotel where I was staying so I got a great look at this restored toll hall: intricate beauty.
