Well it's not Bells Beach but the river surfing is fun to watch :)
Have been to World Surfing champs in Margaret River, WA and Bells Beach Victoria. They are fantastic, but this is more local unique - where else can you watch people surf in a river in a land locked city??? Locals clearly have their own culture, community and vibe. I cannot think of anywhere else in the world where it would be snowing in the morning and 1km awqay you could watch people surf in the afternoon.

    Surprisingly fun time
It's nowhere near the level of Hawaii, California, or any other coastal beach, but watching wetsuit-clad surfers practicing their skills on this river is surprisingly fun to watch. If you're in the vicinity, it's worth a few minutes of your time. Surfers can be found at nearly all hours, from dawn to dusk, and there's usually a crowd watching.

The Eisbachwelle is a very unique sight well worth visiting.
I first discovered the Eisbachwelle (Eisbach Wave) River Surfing by accident when I was in Munich in May 2022. Back in Munich again this May (2023) I made a point of going to the Eisbach Wave to see the surfers in action. I went here several days, to walk in the English Garden Park, both early in the morning and late at night and there were always people surfing. At night they were surfing by the light of spotlights positioned on the bridge above the wave. It really is fun to watch and so very cool seeing people surfing on a river in the centre of a big city like Munich in land locked Germany. This has been a major spot for surfers for over 40 years and always attracts a crowd... A very unique sight worth taking a look at.

    Fun spot!
We were there on a hot summer Saturday afternoon. There were a couple dozen surfers at that time, and a crowd gathered to watch. It was easy to find a spot to sit next to the water and have a good view. The surfers line up and take turns. Some were performing trick moves on the waves. Definitely check this out!

    Don't miss it !!
It was really fun to watch surfers right in the middle of the city. It's on the edge of famous English Garden. It's also valled Ice River. The waves are very rough here and water temprature is 2*. All the surfers wait for their turn to jump in the water. Worth visiting...

A Few Tips About Surfing in Munich
This free fun event is definitely worth seeing, particularly if you enjoy the sport of surfing, or not. We got lost walking through the beautiful and enjoyable park. A young German woman took her phone out and showed us exactly where this place is located. In reality, you can watch the surfing along a Munich Street called “Prinzegentenstrasse.” Men and women go from side to side. A man-made river/stream was made to promote this activity. Some of these athletes—yes athletes—are smart by wearing head-gear. An American woman I know who surfed here says, “it is rather tricky and not easy.” The surfers do wear “wet-suites” making this event almost a year long season. We enjoyed also the Residenz Museum, Hofbrauhaus, the Asam Church and going to the BMW/Olympic Village. My wife was quite sad after seeing Dachau. A very unique sight in a major German city.
I visit Munich every May for around 6 days to take part at trade show and I often walk to the English Garden to get some exercise. The first time I did I wondered why I kept seeing guys in wetsuits riding bicycles with a surfboard under their arm... Then I came across the 'Eisbachwelle' and everything fell into place. This year round surfing wave on the River Eisbach at the Southern end of the English Garden is a popular spot with surfers of all ages and genders. I love to stop on the road bridge (on Prinzregentenstrasse) and watch the surfers take turns to ride the wave. It all seems very sociable, safe and courteous and it sure is fun to watch. If I were a surfer I'd sure like to have a go. A very unique sight that is well worth seeking out to experience when in Munich for a few days.

A very interesting spot, people surf in the middle of the see, no matter how cold it is.
A very interesting location. The stream of the river makes a nice spot for surfers and people use this advantage. It was winter when I visited, we were walking with our jackets but some locals were surfing anyways. I guess it is possible to swim in summer.

Amazing as you see this, amidst the clusters of architectural beauties, as you approach English Garden! Great place to feel the energy of the local crowd.

It's located in the corner of the English Park. It's pretty cool having such a thing in the city center.
