From photographer perspective, the old town of Annecy is like a hunting ground. Palaise de I'lle is arguably one of the most photograph architecture there. It's a bit dull during the day, especially during the cloudy day. But if you wait for the blue hour,...More

The palais de l'ile is quite marvellous to look at. The famous view of the stream with the building was worth the watch. Clicked many pics here. The contents inside were quite confusing and not very interesting except 1or two rooms. Otherwise they just had...More

must be the most photographed building in Annecy! A castle in the canal- once a prison. Great to take photos of this throughout different times of the day when the light is different on it.

Really the old town is quite small but wander around and take in the sights over a couple of hours and then venture into the newer town. A lovely pace to visit, get away from the shops that are just for tourists, visit a bar...More

Originally constructed in the 1100's...what more can you say? Doesn't take too long to visit and explored, be sure to check out the room that functioned as a mint. So much history right at the heart of Old Annecy.

This is a very interesting historical site, as the building had so many different purposed throughout time. The exhibitions on Annecy's city history were a bit too detailed for a first-time visitor to the city like me, but I appreciated the detail as well as...More

The Palais de L’lLE is a great place with cheap entry fees 3.8 EUR. It worth the amount paid as you can learn more about the past of the old city of Annecy. The visit can last 1 hour at max.

We found it to be very intimate experience to see how prisoners lived and also the preservation of the site along with what prisoners scratched onto the walls were amazing to see. We got lost but it was a great experience.

The best way to see the beautiful town of annecy is let your feet guide you and you end up walking around this palais, nothing much but with long long history. You can’t miss it when are in annecy.

Nice to walk around. Venice-feeling and atmosphere. Nothing too exciting but since it's really the main focal point of the "city" you might as well walk around that area.
