Joyce took us on the most wonderful history, chocolate and wine tour! We were a group on a hens with all age ranges with some people not into wine at all. Every person had a brilliant time and was out favourite part of the trip!
The passion Joyce has for Carcassone its people, history, wine and food really shines through. We ended up in a Italian/American restaurant where even the non drinkers found a wine they liked! We were also given some paninis, pizza and bruschetta by the fabulous owner (an unexpected but hugely appreciated treat).
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone on a trip to Carcassonne. Its also absolutely perfect for a hens or girls trip of all ages. Thank you so much!

We did not know what to expect but the tour had been highly recommended by friends.
Joyce was an amazing host, she has a wealth of knowledge around the history of Carcassonne. The information we received was very interesting. The chocolate we tasted was divine, we had to purchase additional to ensure our family and friends can benefit from its wonderful taste.
We tasted wine at 2 fantastic establishments, the 1st was accompanied by a delicious selection of breads, cheese and meats, the second accompanied by delicious freshly prepared pizza- the best we have tasted.
This is a fantastic tour, well presented and informative with the additional benefit of terrific wine and chocolate, we highly recommend.

This walking tour is a must for any visit to Carcassonne! Joyce was the most fabulous guide and we discovered parts of the city we would not have seen without taking the tour. The chocolate shop was beyond amazing and very reasonably priced for gifts. The wine tasting was brilliant and Mario’s pizza in The Tasting Rooms - well it was authentic Italian. Hadrian the owner is a character and his partner Sabine such a sweetheart. This tour had been recommended to me by a friend and it was definitely the highlight of our break. Make sure you take the tour with Joyce such a lovely and well travelled lady as you will enjoy it from start to finish and have many laughs along the way.

What a fabulous morning in Carcassonne with Joyce from Cocoa & Grapes and what a way to learn about the area and it's rich and varied history! Joyce guided us around explaining the history surrounding both the Bastide and Le Citie and taking us into some wonderful places. The chocolate, wine and pizza we had were all wonderful and we went to places we would probably never have seen or visited. Joyce's wine knowledge is superb and we drank some great wines. For all visiting Carcassonne a tour with Cocoa & Grapes is a MUST!!!

Did this tour with a friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Joyce our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable she has definitely done lots of research into Carcassonne. Joyce is also a lovely lady and it was a pleasure to meet her.
The chocolate tasting was delicious. We stopped at two wine tasting locations and both were fantastic. The pizzas we had with the wine tasting at The Tasting Room were outstanding.
Would definitely recommend this tour.

I can’t recommend Joyce and her tour highly enough ! Joyce is a charming and knowledgeable guide, giving us just enough information to absorb. The chocolate tasting was exceptional and made the decision to choose some to try very difficult. Both the wine tastings were relaxed and enjoyable. I felt I had learnt something new and will be looking out for wines from the Languedoc in future. You could not find a better way of spending a few hours in Carcassonnne!

A fabulous morning in Carcassonne learning some history which you simply would not know by just walking around. The chocolates were delicious and the staff were wonderful. The wines were lovely and that pizza was devine. All in all a fantastic experience and memory, thank you Joyce. A tour with a difference. Would definitely recommend.

Managed to squeeze this tour in on our last day in Carcassonne and so glad we did. Joyce was so full of energy interesting facts and information - the chocolate tasting was fabulous and then of course we had the delights of the wine tasting - what a fun day. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this tour - it was really great.

I brought a group of Pilates students for a retreat near Carcassonne and booked a tour with Joyce at Cocoa & Grapes. Joyce was entirely considerate of our group on a very hot day, the pace and. content of the tour was excellent, we rested, refreshed, found shady spots, and learnt a huge amount! Highly recommended.

Absolutely a must if you visit Carcassonne! The tour was amazing and Joyce was a fantastic host. A mixture of history of Carcassonne, followed by a visit to a local patisserie. The chocolates were amazing and the shop a feast for the eyes. Joyce then took us to sample some delicious wines and amazing pizza. We had a wonderful time and would like to thank you Joyce for making our experience so special.

Are the walking tours dog friendly?

Small, well behaved dogs only. A dog you can easily pick up. No dogs that beg or cause disruption to others on the tour. Otherwise they will need to be taken outside the shops we visit.

HI there, Sorry for the late reply. I did in the past allow small children on the tour. But unfortunately it did not work out well. My tour is best suited to those 18 years and above. We spend a fair amount of time tasting and talking about wine. Kind regards, Brent

I am visiting Carcassonne in September and like the sound of your tour. My issue is that I use a walking stick and my mobility is not great. I can't walk very fast or far so did wonder if I would be able to do the tour. Please could you advise me of the distance and time covered. Thank you

Hi The tour last,s about 4 to 5 hours, Brett is very helpful, best to e mail him, walking pace is slow as he is showing you,around, the Patisserie / chocolatiere,may have a chair you can sit on and the wine tasting as well, in a small house cellar in the centre.He is very helpful the pace is leisurely.

Hi We did the tour, approx 55 euros each met at 9am by the bridge to view chateau, walking tour ,drinks in a cafe and wine tasting worth every penny very informative , patisserie chocolatiere, wine cellar fabulous, and we did the sat market very good.Tour finished approx 2pm. Is this tour suitable for someone with mobility problems ie: can't walk too far or too fast

Thank you for your interest in Cocoa & Grapes Walking Tour in Carcassonne.
It is somewhat difficult for me to say as I don't know your level of limited mobility.
The tour is a walking tour that lasts up to 4 hours. We walk to and visit 3 shops all together. On the way to the first shop, and in between as we are walking to the next shops I share historical stories of both Carcassonne and chocolate and wine. Depending on the shops we visit (which depends on which ones are open) sometimes there are chairs to sit on while in the shops, but not always.
There are no hills but surfaces can be uneven as this is an old town with old uneven sidewalks and roads etc. In the summer months it can be quite hot when walking around which can add to someones difficulty. The tour is definitely not wheelchair accessible.
For any given tour date I require a minimum of 2 people on the tour. Sometimes I have up to 8 people, but usually only 4 - 6 at the most.
If you are concerned about keeping up with the others, I could possibly offer you a private tour at an additional cost.
I'm not really sure what else I can add to this. Ultimately it will have to come down to your decision.

I can offer you a walking tour on 15, 16, 17, 20 or 21 of October. The walking tour runs in the morning from 09h00 to approximately 12h30. The cost is €55 each with a €20 per person non refundable deposit required to hold your places.
