We took the Gorges de Tranchard path, then switched it to a longer one. The pine trees and rock formations were incredible. And there we great places with a view on top of the cliffs.
The path was interesting enough, not too easy, not too difficult. Well marked. We had a fun afternoon in the forest.

Our favourite part of our recent mini break to Fontainebleau was this magnificent forest that we explored on bikes! Wish we had stayed three days instead of two! My children loved bouldering, we all loved being amongst the green!

I went to the woods because I want to live intentionally. At the fork in the road I chose the one adventuring and what an incredible experience I had!!! I cycled through the forest from Fontainebleau to Barbizon - yesssssss! That is definitely something you should consider. The tranquility soothes the soul and the birdsong nourishes the senses. Beautiful roads to navigate safely through the forest. Well worth consideration.

I recently left with my friends. I love the forest of Fontainebleau. You breathe the air. Besides, next to it, you can find spots to climb on rocks.

This is a lovely forest for easy hikes and even horse riding. You can use trails or wander on your own. We found a trail that wound through large rock formations. The rocky trails were surprisingly well suited to a picnic. Highly recommend packing food and taking a pause on your hike. There are many small parking areas scattered throughout. It was about an hour drive from Paris on a Saturday morning. Great way to escape the city and get into nature. Also Château de Fontainebleau is a few minutes away. We didn’t see any public bathrooms so you’ll have to drive back to town or go pipi sauvage.

La Foret de Fontainebleau is wonderfully beautiful. It's a great place to walk for hours and just get lost in your thoughts as you go through the forest. The forest is beautiful all throughout the year, weather you visit in Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, it'll always have something to offer. There are many boulders and rocks to climb and it's a great place for hiking as well. I recommend visiting for a pleasant walk through this magical forest.

Delightful walking and horse-riding trails, Beautiful colours all year round, but particularly in the fall and spring. Diversified foliage. Good for pick-nicking. Excellent rock-climbing.

Lots of paths to walk or ride along, from nicely graded and sealed "roads" to little meandering paths. Lovely atmosphere.

I'd like a referral to hire a mountain bike and guide for riding in this forest next March 2019. Thank you. Steve syellon@google,com

Does this forest require hiking shoes, or are flatter sneakers (Keds or Converse) acceptable? The terrain looks quite flat and sandy in many areas.

Sneakers would be fine, the forest is quite flat and the terrain is sandy, not rocky or difficult to walk on. It's walkable in flip flops!
