We spent a week with Xavier from 33Tour in Bordeaux (2 couples). After a few emails, Xavier sent us a comprehensive itinerary for the trip. We spent 2 days in Medoc and visited 6 wineries. We spent 1 day in Cognac and went to 2 distilleries. We did a walking tour of historic Bordeaux. Then spent the last day and a half in St. Emilion and visited 3 wineries and a wine negotiante. We did not go to Graves (personal preference). First the wine: We had a mix of 'big names' and 'family owned gems'. At each winery, we had a unique experience, especially since the harvest had begun. Xavier gave the tour guides a run down of what we had already seen, so there was minimal overlap. We picked fresh grapes off the vine. We watched the winemaking process. We tasted from the barrel. We tasted unfermented juice (delish!). Of course the wines were great everywhere! The food: Every day we had a multi course gourmet lunch (picked by Xavier). These ranged from brasseries to local favorites. Every place was amazing and unique. For dinners, we went to 3 different Michelin starred restaurants and a few other superb places. We must have eaten thousands of calories per day! Hotels: Xavier booked our hotels with our input. In Bordeaux, we stayed at Hotel de Seze which was conveniently located and Art Deco beautiful. In St. Emilion we stayed at the Grand Barrail, which is an incredible chateau. Travel: Xavier personally drove us to each of our stops. Along the way, he filled our heads with priceless information which prepared us for each tasting. We talked history, geography, topography, chemistry, and of course, winemaking! His van was luxurious and spacious so we had no problems getting around. He also arranged airport transfers. We were grinning ear to ear the whole trip! Highly highly recommend!

Xavier is a highly experienced professional in the wine industry with strong networks across the grand cru classé wineyards in Bordeaux. Whilst we are by no means experts, he was able to accommodate our preferences whilst complementing it with his own recommendations and experiences. A lot of the top chateaux can only be accessed by private appointment and Xavier makes this an effortless experience by arranging the entire itinerary on your behalf. We went on a 2 day private itinerary, the first day in Médoc and the second day in Sauternes and Graves, which provided a nice contrast of the famous reds with the sweet and dry white wines as well. We also enjoyed eating at two very local eateries for lunch, with the assistance of Xavier who was able guide us through the options and try some food paired with wine. Overall through Xavier's knowledge and the private wine tours, we were able to develop a much deeper understanding of the history, the hard work and dedication that goes into wine making, as well as appreciate the differences in wine across the different appellation and terroir in the Bordeaux region. We also found that we had developed a greater understanding more broadly of other wines that we tried during the rest of our holiday in France. Overall we would highly recommend booking a tour with Xavier if you would like a seamless experience to visit some of the top wineries in Bordeaux to try their wine (and option to readily purchase some bottles there if you like them) whilst learning in depth about the wine making process.

We spent 2 full days with our guide, Henri and had a great time. One day was spent in the Medoc region and the second day we visited St. Emilion. There were four of us and everyone enjoyed our tours. We visited 3 wineries each day and Henri recommended a wonderful restaurant for lunch on both days. We invited him to join us for lunch and it added to our experience. Henri was knowledgeable and personable and added much to our enjoyment with his expertise about the regions and the wines/food. We highly recommend 33Tours; the owner Xavier has very helpful throughout the booking process and made this very easy for us to have a great time.

A MUST BOOK WITH XAXIER! We had the most incredibly time in Bordeuax and it was truly all thanks to Xavier!! We LOVED our 2 day experience with him. From a professional standpoint, Xaxier brought us to a lovely mix of all types of chateaus and wines. We drank some of the best wine we have ever had and met some of the most fabulous tour guides along the way as well. From a personal standpoint, Xaxier was just absolutely wonderful. He walked us through so much history of the region, educated us about the wines and was also so much fun to connect with! We had so many great laughs with him. We are still talking about Xaxier a month after our time with him. We can't thank him enough for showing us such a fabulous time. You won't be disappointed experiencing this region with him!!

Xavier is our personal guide, he is professional and we are extremely happy with our two-day private wine tour in Medoc and Sauternes area of Bordeaux. Upon initial request and discussion with Xavier through email two months prior of our trip, he custom-made an itinerary to show us several wineries in Medoc area and Sauternes area of Bordeaux, the “Left Bank”. All the details are clearly listed on the itinerary in PDF format. Xavier met us at our hotel lobby on time, and then drove us to the wineries with a luxury van. The van was clean and spacious. During the ride, he told us a lot of information about Bordeaux, it was very informative. We have questions, he has answers. Please do not hesitate to ask him questions about wine. With his expertise, I would describe him as an educator. Upon arrival at the Château, he introduced us to the host, and then we just followed the host exploring the Château. After visiting the first Chateau, Xavier took us to a local restaurant for lunch, and it was a good. And then we followed our itinerary and visited different Chateaus in the afternoon, and then he took us back to our hotel. After two days of wine touring in Medoc and Sauternes, we have better under of the wine making process and tasted different wines from different Chateaus. We are thankful Xavier was our guide, and I look forward to visit the “Right Bank” with Xavier in the future. *PS - After the two-day tour, I discovered that Xavier had made a lot of high quality videos on YouTube of his wine tour company and interview with different Chateaus. There’s a lot of good information for those who are planning to visiting Bordeaux!
