We became fixtures in this establishment during our recent trip to Bordeaux. It was recommended by Jonathon during our wine trip to Saint Emillion. No queues during off season. Top class wine from 2 to 5 Euro a glass. We worked our way through their list and all wine was top quality. We also sampled their charcuterie and cheese boards which were also top quality and reasonably priced. Service was prompt and pleasant. It’s a very informal place to pop in whilst exploring Bordeaux. We met again many of our fellow walking and wine tour group members here! Its central location opposite the tourist office makes it an ideal rendezvous point whilst exploring Bordeaux. We’re already missing our Bar a vin experience back in rainy Ireland. Our first stop next time we visit Bordeaux.

We were recommended to this place by our guide on the wine tour (which is also a great day if you like wine). It seems to be subsidised by the wine trade so you can enjoy some lovely wines by the glass and the waiters are really helpful and nice.

Bordeaux is famous for wine but mostly tourists book expensive wine tours out to the St Emilion area. This is a great thing to do , if you can afford it. We were lucky enough to be shown that area by a french friend, so when this School of Wine came up on my Google search, I went looking and foubd an amazing selection of wines, tasty food to match and educated Sommeliers who made us feel very welcome, TWICE. Well done and Thankyou.

During my stay in Bordeaux this tasting venue is one place that I would direct all by tasting friends to. Don't expect 2-8euro 150cl pours of old 1st growths on the tasting list, but do expect to find less notable wines that have been carefully selected to display the winemaker's craft and skills. The other notable aspect of Bar a Vin is the care and concern of the staff in the serving of the wines. Each new bottle was tasted by the server to confirm it was as it should be. The care and cleaning of the tasting glasses demonstrated the reverence for the wines they were serving. These students of wine are being well taught.

Taking a break from the sun, we had a great time tasting different wines from Bordeaux. The waitress was delightful, talked about the types of wine we enjoy and made recommendations. The wine from Saint-Foy was excellent! Worth a visit even if you’re new to appreciating wine.

It's a good starting point because nothing is more than €6 per glass. Maybe they sell bottles. Some eat cheese there.

During a recent trip to Bordeaux, our host recommended Bar a Vin.
We enjoyed our first visit so much we went back three times.

They have a broad range of quality red and white Bordeaux wines, all of great value and generous pours.
Along with wines you can order a cheese, meat or a delicious chocolate tasting platter.
We enjoyed all the platters as they enhanced our wine experience!!

Alex our waiter helped us navigate through the wine list and put a nice selection together..

If your travels take you to Bordeaux, a visit to Bar a Vin is a must!

During our recent trip to Bordeaux this week we visited Bar a Vin on 3 occasions. You are able to taste many excellent wines from the Bordeaux region, reasonable measures at prices from 2€ to 8€ each. Also had platter of cheese which complimented the wines. An absolute must when visiting Bordeaux
