Went to see Queens of the Coal age as a birthday treat with family age from 19-70+ . Entered from St Ann’s Square and found the steps very steep. It is a beautiful building and the inside is open and inviting. Coffee bar and alcohol...More

Maxine Peake's 'Queens of the Coal Mine'brilliantly played. A treat to see humour used so cleverly as a true story unfolded. The Royal Exchange theatre is run by a charity apparently. It is well run and set inside a beautiful old building. We understand that...More

Been here on many occasions and really like the conversion into a theatre complex. Grand building with signs of its previous life.

An interesting array of performances, regular smaller interactive sessions and workshops (hit and miss, but always ambitious!). The round theatre has a great view wherever you sit, and there are some great value seats - especially if you purchase on the day. The shop sells...More

For my first visit to the Royal Exchange, I came to see Happy Days. I have never been to a theatre-in-the-round before: the layout is fascinating, especially as the stage was constantly (but ever so slowly!) moving during the performance. I got a very good...More

Billy Joel was great, will definitely back me and my wife loved it! The only down side was the queue for drinks

It is totally different than I'm used to, because the stage is a circle and you're sitting in this giant construction all around it. It was really nice and we really enjoyed the show we watched (Happy Days). We also got a lot of discount...More

I love this theatre. As you sit and look around at the building it’s stunning. The seating offers a view that you can see from all seats. The staff working here are always professional and helpful. The sound and lights are of a high quality.

I always prefer to sit on the front row of the 1st tier (i.e. up stairs looking down on the action.) As long as you book in advance, I've seldom had a problem getting the seats that I want. Great theatre, enjoy.

As the theatre is so small , all the seats are pretty good , we prefer the stalls , and if you don't like heights they are your best bet.
