I recently attended an excellent local history lecture on the importance of Maidstone as a centre of paper making in the past, since I live in one of the converted mills. I lok forward to similar events

Fantastic Museum. Very varied exhibits. We particularly liked the colourful cabinets of curiosity. The Prehistoric section was very interesting with lots of hands on exhibits. We enjoyed the Egyptian Section; fascinating to see an "unwrapped" mummy.
