- Kez1308Manchester, United Kingdom22 contributionsThe warmest welcome in Dublin!Such a warm warm welcome, couldn’t have asked for more. Staff were absolutely fantastic (sorry ladies, we should have asked for your names). A real gem of a pub, full of history and a great authentic atmosphere. We visited on a recommendation and so glad we did. Will be our first port of call when we are next in Dublin again. Thank you.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 October 2023
- FireballsRoscommon, Ireland74 contributionsStill as good as I remembered!Absolute gem of a real Dublin pub. I'd been to a few bars before visiting there last Saturday night and I can safely say that the beer was by far the best in the Confession Box. It was my third visit there, and it's still as good as I remembered from my previous visits and I'll definitely be back!Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 February 2024

Very friendly and welcoming with locals unlike the city centre. Sell their own whisky which is the best we've tasted here even after a distillery tour. Small but with its own history. GreT little gem.

Lovely little pub. There is Limited seating on the main and upstairs levels which makes for an intimate time. We had great service. My local Irish friends like to frequent here.

Simply the best wee pub in Dublin.
The owners make you feel at home, the regulars are a joy to talk to and the beer and esoecythe Guinness is the best pint you'll get in Dublin.

I really wanted to visit this pub,as I had read about it on Tripadvisor and other sites.I was really was impressed as on our first visit we were welcomed by two lovely Women, sorry didn’t get your names,They could not have been more welcoming, asking where had been that day, where we were from, and giving us our local info you don’t get on the tourist sites.I found the Guinness superb in this establishment 👍.and was consistent on all our visits to the Confession Box.I could fully recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Dublin……..enjoy the Guinness

Upon my recent trip to Dublin, one of the first places on my list of places to go was the Confession box as I love quirky historic pubs and really wanted to hear more about it.
After a bit of shopping and upon entering with my friend during the day we were asked to leave right away. We literally walked in full of smiles and excitement and did said nothing which might call for this kind of rejection from the pub. The pub was not overly busy, I’m not sure if this was a locals pub which we were not welcome, it really took us back and spent a little bit of time trying to work out what happened. It certainly was not a warm welcome and all we wanted was a quiet Guinness while we found our bearings.
Dublin is such a friendly city and still shocked by this and confused to what we did wrong..

We visited here after not wanting to go to a touristy pub and accidentally stumbled across this pub, it’s a Brilliant hidden gem are we are so glad we visited. We sat upstairs and the whole pub had a great atmosphere. It’s obviously a local pub with regulars who are all very friendly, as are all the staff. The prices are good too and the Guinness tasted great. We would definitely return and recommend.
