This is a very pretty railway station which looks rather olde worldly but is kept in excellent condition. The photo above (of the signal box) is rather misleading as there is now a great big tower structure behind it which would spoil any photographer’s picture...More

Its not often that you can see a Signal Boy well preserved as this one. Its a good example of Britain's railway history. Well worth a visit. Shame the acual box was closed when we visited

It’s very interesting visiting the station and the signal box is part of a very picturesque scene. It’s wonderful to see the whole place beautifully restored which is a credit to the volunteers.

The signal box, open to the public on Saturdays with helpful Friends of the Settle-Carlisle on hand, is just part of a magnificently preserved and beautifully maintained station.

Settle station box is open to public on some days and allows a hands on experience with some enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. If you like trains or history of transport, well worth a detour if you are in the area.

Popped up here while staying in Settle and was delighted to see how well kept the railway station is. The style is perfectly old fashioned and everything from the type of signage; the ticket room; signal box and flowers on the platforms etc is a...More
