About
This market is one of London’s oldest and largest food markets, with over 100 delicatessens, butchers, fishmongers, and cheesemakers selling fresh produce, meats, artisanal delicacies, and more. It's where locals come to do their grocery runs, and where travelers can come to try some of the best British food in a historic setting. Join a food and market tour of London to make sure you don't miss any of the best stalls. It gets busy on weekend afternoons, and some traders aren't open on all days—typically on limited market days early in the week—so be sure to plan ahead. – Tripadvisor

Address
Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

Borough Market is a renowned food market situated in the heart of London. This market has a rich history that dates back to the 13th century and is now a popular tourist destination. The market offers a wide range of fresh and organic produce, including fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, cheese, bread, and pastries.

One of the highlights of Borough Market is the variety of international cuisine available. There are food stalls that serve Italian, Spanish, Indian, and Middle Eastern food, among others. Whether you are in the mood for a quick bite or a full meal, you will find something to suit your taste buds.

The market is always bustling with activity, and the atmosphere is vibrant and lively. The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable, and they are always happy to share their expertise with customers. There are also plenty of seating areas where you can enjoy your food while taking in the sights and sounds of the market.

Overall, Borough Market is a must-visit for foodies and anyone who appreciates fresh, high-quality produce. With its rich history, diverse range of food options, and bustling atmosphere, it's no wonder that this market has become a beloved institution in London.

We thoroughly enjoyed roaming the market, seeing the food displays and the various vendors selling food to eat. First we had the paella which was delicious. There are very few places to sit, though, so eating standing up was a challenge but worth it. For our next dish, we found seats at a counter at Padella for outstanding homemade pasta. I wanted to try the award-winning fish and chips but the lines were too long and they extended into a street. We have been to London many times over the years and I am shocked that we didn't know this was here! We will definitely return. It was easy to take a bus from the Holborn area where we were staying. Even on a rainy day it was fun!

I had seen so many pictures before going where the market looked packed and honestly looked impossible to enjoy. So we went fairly early, I think it was around 10:00 am or so and it was a great time to go. It wasn't crowded at all and we could easily get into all the food stalls to really look around and peruse the items.

The thing that stood out the most to me was the most beautiful rainbow of colors in the produce displays! I have never seen such beautiful produce in the states and to live near here and to be able to buy this produce that looks so perfect would be amazing!

It was a joy to be able to wander through without crowds and since we were not planning on eating, going early was a perfect time to go.

You should know if you are planning on eating, we only saw one place to sit and that was in what Americans call bleachers like we have at football games.

Think about what your intentions are before going because if you don't have to ear then go early and really enjoy strolling through.

Can't miss this iconic London Market if you love food. Many stalls of fresh produce, meats, seafood, cheese, baked goods and more! Be sure to check the hours before you visit. They are usually closed on Mondays.

A beautiful location with a decent selection of goods. Often hailed London's best market, I would still place it beneath Camden Market, which I much preferred. Still worth a visit though!

We picked a bad time to go here;lunchtime. We wanted to wander and peruse all of the merchants but that was just impossible in the hectic rush in the market and around the neighborhood. People in search for the perfect lunch were unruly and self-absorbed which made looking and walking about difficult. Had we gone earlier in the day, I am sure we would have liked it better. People were queuing up and made for lengthy, snaking lines which tied up any walking lanes. Surprisingly, the fish and seafood stalls were the longest. People were rushing about with purpose and ignored other people traffic as we nearly wiped out several times, especially as I walked with a walking stick due to my current limp. As to the markets stalls, there were several interesting stalls but nothing I could truly rave about. We had heard of a few and searched, without success, the market and neighborhood, for them. In the end, we only found a few that we read about (some from Sorted Food) and had to give up on finding most of them. To top it off, we got turned around and were actually headed in the wrong direction back to our hotel before realizing it;luckily only a few blocks. I would not give up on this place though. I would just plan my visit to not coincide with lunch and go shortly after opening or at the end of lunch.
