We went out after breakfast, to Golfo de Chiriqui, the boat was comfortable and the guide brought drinks. Passing by different island with interesting marine wildlife we made our way into the reserve, where we spotted several whales from up close. Impressive, the whales seemed undisturbed by the presence of out boat, and were very playful. After a stop for snorkeling in clear waters and swimming with a big marine turtle, and after some time at leisure on an uninhabited island, we went on to spot dolphins, seeing many. A great morning out altogether!

What a fabulous experience with Joshua and his captain! Joshua punctually greeted us in the waiting area at 9 A.M. and gave us a brief synopsis of what our day would entail.
My 13 y/o son, husband, and I excitedly walked down the pier to our boat, and we were delighted to have a French couple join us in the day’s excursion out to sea. The boat was comfortable and accommodated all of us nicely. It’s also noteworthy to share this activity is limited to no more than 10 people. It definitely adds a personal and enjoyable aspect to an excursion knowing Bocas Del Mar caters to a smaller, intimate setting for their guests.
Snorkeling and White Sand beaches await you while Joshua and the captain serve you Piña Fresca (Fresh Pineapple) and Coconut as you wade in the turquoise waters with lush, tropical islands in the backdrop. As if this isn’t the perfect ending to a sublime day, Joshua also locates the local aquatic acrobats of the sea (Dolphins) and calls them to put on a show for those aboard the vessel. You’re not going to get a Sea World display, but it still is quite mesmerizing watching these marine mammals display their beauty in a natural setting so close to our boat!
Everything about this excursion was top-notch and delightful for all ages aboard thanks to Joshua, the captain, and the staff who helped us decide on this family excursion!
Simply. PanAMAZING!

We had a wonderful time we saw many dolphins and the guide took some extra time to spot a whale. We were early in the saison but because of the guide we saw a mother and baby whale.

When we took part in Bocas del Mar activities I really felt that I was living a real tropical experience. It is all very professionally run and equipment is modern and well-kept.
My friends and I went on an off road ATV adventure. Our guide was Miha who showed us the area round Boca Chica and took us on some awesome off road trails - we saw howler monkeys on the way and went to these deserted tropical bays and swam. I have done a few ATV trips like this and this was the best as it didn't feel too touristy. It did feel like a real adventure but was really quite safe and not too strenous. Well done Miha! I also enjoyed the boat journey on another day out to the islands and the most amazing beaches as well. We saw dolphins and whales as it was in season.

There is a lot to do at Hotel Bocas del Mar we found. We booked the Ngobe indigenous people visit before we arrived and also we reserved the Islands Discovery Tour which was fascinating, we followed dolphins, we saw turtles, birds... and we enjoyed in amazing white sand beaches. The village visit is very interesting, you will see how traditional indigenous people still live and I liked that it was not a tourist village. Both guides François and Miha are amazing and I highly recommend both tours!!!

We took the 5 hr trip through the islands and had a great day. Joshua was a great guide and did all he could to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Saw dolphins, caimans and the green sea turtles along with a myrid of birds. The only disappointment was the snorkeling. Just not much to see compared to previous experiences. But all in all a most enjoyable day and I highly recommend it.

We had a great guide and experience on the dolphin cruise. Saw lots of dolphin, monkeys, and tramped around an untouched island. Boat was clean and safe. They supplied water. It was a lovely day on the bay.

This was the highlight of our visit to Panamá. You would choose this if you are:
1) deeply interested in indigenous culture; 2) willing to spend the day in dusty conditions; 3) able to withstand a bumpy, 1 1/2-2 hr ride to and from the village of Soloy; and 4) adaptable to whatever experiences are offered by the local people.
We arrived in Soloy and picked up our local guide. He spoke mostly Spanish, but slowly enough for us to understand, and the hotel guides were available to translate. We walked a fair amount and up some fairly steep terrain to reach the 500 year old petroglyphs left in the area where the Maya, Aztecs, and locals convened to share culture and trade.
We visited the river Soloy and learned about how the people use, respect, and fear the river. We also saw buildings used by travelers to the central village. We were absolutely blessed by a mother and daughter who showed us how they process a local leaf to harvest fibers for useful crafts. They allowed me to take a turn at both the scraping of the leaf and working with the dried fibers to make string and weave it into fabric. They served us tea in traditional bowls made from the fruit Hull of a local tree.
We visited a local school, where I was able to interact with the children as they ate lunch and ask the teacher about the children’s studies.
Finally, we had lunch prepared by a family. It was delicious, served in traditional bowls with traditional utensils. They are so very gracious and kind, and their children were awesome. Olmedo, 5, and Miguel, 4, were charming and vivacious the way all boys their age are. Miguel had his boots on the wrong feet - just like all boys do 50% of the time.
This is not always available as the community is not always receptive to visitors. Very few have this opportunity, so if this experience tugs at your heartstrings, count your blessings if you have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
