If you really want to experience the off track in Portugal and be by the sea on a beach still wild, this is the place ! Beautiful, and with very accommodating people, with the nice restaurant on the beach nearby, what a nice way to take a break from the tourist crowd! and who loves animals, to be beside the stables (so clean !) and the horses in the field makes it even more special ! and the little village of Porto Covo just nearby makes perfect for who needs a bit of civilisation. Finally, the horse ride on the beach makes it a dream come true for the teens !

We have a wonderfull stay at Herdade do Pessegueiro located at the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina.

Claudia and Diogo where extremely nice hosts as all the working staff at the Herdade do Pessegueiro.

We came in January and the weather was very nice, Sun was shining and all the surroundings where pure green.

Sunset at the herdade do Pessegueiro is astonishing, it is possible to enjoy the sun and the sea on the horizon.

At the nightime the view of the starts is amazing, residences have kitchen and a proper fireplace.

All horses are very nice and well treated fitting the most unexperienced rider as myself, my girlfriend and friends.

The horse ride along the beach was amazing and breathtaking, i will never forget this one.

The lovely Pessegueiro beach is very near from the Herdade do Pessegueiro as it is possible to walk to the beach where it has a proper restaurant with a big fireplace inside and a terrace with a astonishing view to the Pessegueiro Island.

I warmly recommend this for horse loving tourists in The area. The horses are well treated and healthy, stable clean and staff very polite and Nice. Went for an hour with trotting and galopp, beautiful site with sandy trials along The coast. Loved it, both me and my 9 year old daughter. Come back next year.

I went to Herdade do Pessegueiro in April, the weather was perfect. This was my first riding holiday and there is so much to say, the riding was very varied, wonderful long canters on sandy tracks, walking through valleys and forests, the food was lovely, but it was the people who made it very special, our guide was so good, I was made to feel very safe and the horses were amazing, very well schooled and cared for, I didn't want to come home, I would recommend this holiday to any level of ability, the ride is catered for everyone. I will return.

I spent a week with four my friends this April.
We had a very nice horse trail on Alentejo coast perhaps the most beautiful horserinding esperience I had. The lusitano horses are fantastic and Claudia and Paulo (the owner and the super guide) are very very carrefull with them and their guests.
The management of trail (meals, accomodations, transfert ) are special too. In the morning and evening we had our breakfast and dinner in Claudia's mother restaurant and we were spoiled by aexcellent and substant meals.
I'll hope to come back there.

We went horse riding for an hour and we loved it. We are unexperienced but the staff and work placement student were so welcoming and relaxed that we felt in turn reassured. The horses are well looked after, stunning animals. Organising it was very easy too. If the GPS coordinates don't work on your Tom Tom set it to navigate to the Parque de campismo da Ilha do Pessegueiro. It's further down to your left. The Parque de campismo reception staff are very helpful and will put you in the right direction. The area is beautiful. After horse riding we went to the Restaurant a Ilha and then to the nearby beach.

We walked the Rota Vicentina and chose to leave the Fisherman’s trail at Ilha do Pessegueiro heading to Cercal do Alentejo and the Historical Way.
We spent a night here instead of going to Porto Covo.
The hostess was great, very professional. Accommodation was basic & dated. It included a good size room, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. Very quiet environment with gardens.
There was an honesty bar for tea, coffee & alcohol.
For meals the nearest restaurant is at the fort at Ilha do Pessegueiro an easy 1 km walk.
You can also book a horse ride if so inclined.
Very convenient location if walking the Rota Vicentina.

Comfortable, fit and ever-willing horses. Always ready to pick up the pace, but also completely controlled on the beach in an Atlantic gale.
Great riding and varied scenery. Sandy tracks went on forever and you certainly need to be riding fit. We were on the 5-day trail ride and the format works really well.
Excellent food. Such variety and tasty home cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not so sure about the octopus, but all part of the experience!.
Above all amazing hospitality from all of the team. Only wish we’d learnt a bit of Portuguese.
We will long remember the final ride home in a gale force wind, when we deferred lunch, rode long and hard but the horses still didn’t put a foot wrong all day.
Many thanks Claudia, Paolo and team.

Unfortunately the photos do not correspond to what is currently in the estate.
Everything is degraded and cleaning is almost nonexistent.
There is no one responsible for giving the face, for all these failures.
