This is the highlight of a visit to Mtskheta and is well worth the effort of making the trip here from Tbilisi. In quite good condition without too much ugly restoration work. Make sure you go inside to see the magnificent art work.

One of the largest still functioning cathedral in the historic town Mtskheta, Georgia. This cathedral is also under the UNESCO heritage sites. Apart from visiting the cathedral one can also enjoy browsing the shops in the town or even take a carriage ride..

XI century Cathedral Svetitskhoveli, which in translation means life-giving piller, in a list of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. Its a holy place in Georgia, like a Jerusalem in Israel.

This is the biggest and perhaps the best known cathedral in Georgia. There are many Christian related paintings, artifacts, and tombs in here. Worth the visit for any Christian.

This is a beautiful cathedral with fabulous icons and frescoes throughout. A guide can be very helpful for understanding the history and appreciating the different aspects. It was especially wonderful to listen to the chanting - fabulous acoustics in the side chapel.
