This is the highlight of a visit to Mtskheta and is well worth the effort of making the trip here from Tbilisi. In quite good condition without too much ugly restoration work. Make sure you go inside to see the magnificent art work.

This is a beautiful cathedral with fabulous icons and frescoes throughout. A guide can be very helpful for understanding the history and appreciating the different aspects. It was especially wonderful to listen to the chanting - fabulous acoustics in the side chapel.
