Burano as a whole was a fine experience, much more interesting and welcoming that Murano, and the ladies at this boutique were quite marvelous. I was welcomed in the little upstairs family museum and had a chance to feel the exquisite quality of the contemporary linens. Lux! Lots of interesting information graciously told in family story. Well worth walking a bit farther to meet these ladies. Thanks for a lovely experience.

The island itself was incredible, and the lace shops were interesting to visit. Not quite as exciting as glass blowing, but still a fascinating piece of the local history. I've included pictures of the surrounding area.

We were sure we were getting authentic lace at this shop. The staff was friendly and helpful. Real Burano lace is not inexpensive.

A dear little lady demonstrated her skills at making those beautiful, delicate laces. The store is full of stunning hand-made lace table and bed linens as well as clothing and scarves. I bought a beautiful scarf (and at that price - I consider it a family heirloom!) An interesting museum upstairs, as this family has passed on the art of making lace for hundreds of years!

Many places around the world are known for a particular craft or cuisine. Burano's claim to fame is lace and this shop exemplifies this. This is a beautifully presented store with some exquisite work on offer. Even if you don't buy you should go in and admire the craftsmanship. The rest of Burano with the painted houses and restaurants is just as attractive and the island itself is worth a whole day

Absolutely beautiful lace work within.

I'm NOT a lace fan, but even I was impressed by the craftsmanship displayed within.

Some of her quality work was expensive, but the work, the exquisiteness of the work was MORE than worth the price.

Truly spectacular work!!

I did not think that I would be so impressed by the lace. It appears to me that most of what is offered at the open stalls and small shops on the streets are just cheap imports, but there are a few shops with amazing quality inside. The real thing is so impressive, rich in texture. I was especially impressed with the work at Emilia Burano and with their staff.

No price can be put to the hours, days and months of labor invested in these pieces. They are truly beautiful, elegant masterpieces. Thank you for preserving this craftsmanship for us all to see, even if we cannot all afford to buy.
