Awesome views to 360 degrees..... wow! And there is lot of hiking trails and cycling trails, so put this place to your list when you go to southern Black Forest!

Alpine food (well, almost) with spectacular Alpine view and great hiking trails.
Jun 2017 • Couples
On a clear day the trip up the Belchen is a must, with a stunning view of most of the Alps to the south. Food at the Belchenhaus near the summit is simple and hearty, just what you need if you are going to hike12 kilometres down the mountain back to Munstertal station. A highlight of any Black Forest holiday, with skiing in winter.

Do not miss it when in the Black Forest - you can see (almost) forever at the top!
May 2016
We went up the cable car late in the afternoon, in early May, and there was still a bit of snow at the top but not so much that it interfered with a wonderful walk to the top from the cable car station. One would not really have to take the cable car to enjoy the mountain - the highest in the Black Forest - but we started late. The walks are well marked and safe.

The nice alps!

In the end, were happy in Belchen Seilbahn. For around 40€ (a family ticket), we spent time for sight seeing and skiing around from 12.00-17.00. The last lift is usually at 16.30 but we were lucky so many visitors at the day and they extended until 5 pm. Those who likes to go in the morning, can take the morning ticket at 9 am. The lift movement is so fast, be careful! One lift cabin is for around 8 adults, 640kg.
As not a real Skier, the blue line is the best among red and black ... moreover, I've tried the comfortable line for Schlitten-sledging, which is straight and easy (turn right not left).
Before finished the last round, we took a cup of hot chocolate at Gasthof Belchen on the top and enjoyed the wonderful panorama. Amazing sun shine and alps were over there! Don't miss it and take pics around. Have fun.

Fantastic Views

We were staying nearby in Munstertal, so Belchen was only 20 minutes away. Firstly we picked a glorious day warm and clear. The first part was in a cable car but when you reached the summit there were a number of interesting walks all with views of the valley and the mountains such as Mt Blanc in the far distance

Great views and an interesting cable car ride
Sep 2016 • Couples
We visited in summer and it was a lovely trip travelling up in the cable car to the top with commanding views for kilometres in all directions. It gave us a really good perspective of the area. Green fields everywhere. Whilst in European terms this may not be a particularly high mountain, for Australians it is still a good size one and we appreciate the 360 degree views of a very pretty region. The inn at the top served huge portions of beautiful cakes which looked scrumptious. Having just eaten lunch we couldn't manage one but did eye off those around us having them. The cold drinks were well appreciated though. It was a lovely setting to sit and enjoy them looking out at the green surrounds.

You can take the local bus to Belchen, purchase round trip gondola tickets. Enjoy the smooth and scenic ride to the top where there are plenty of vistas for photos, a small gift shop and good restaurant with 360 degree windows for your enjoyment.

Day out to the Belchen
Apr 2016 • Family
Only a 30 minute car journey from Lörrach. Take the cable car to the top and on clear days, enjoy fantastic views across the Rhine valley to the alps in Switzerland. There's a cafe on the top serving huge helpings of real Black Forest gateau, smothered in cream and chocolate with schnapps soaked through the cake.
Great walks around the area, warm in summer and a snow covered wonderland in the winter months.

Spectacular view

Drove approx 1 hours plus from Lörrach to Belchen - straight to the cable car 'terminal'. You have the options of walking up the trail (which takes approx 1 hour) or to take the cable car which takes approx 10-15 min. My suggestion, walk up and take the cable car down - at least do your knees some favor!

As we walk up, the view gets more and more exciting and beautiful. And when we finally reach the mid point i.e. where the cable car stops, the weather went super cold, wind was super strong and we almost got ourselves frozen :D

But we continued on. We continue to walk up another hill for about 20-30 min and came to the summit where we spotted a huge giant (summit) cross. Trekkers usually pit stop at this hangout spot to take photographs and to 'fuel up'. We had sandwiches and some selection of peaches and nectarines.

We went down the hill via the cable car (€5.20 for 1 way).

All in all, worth the hike. I shall leave my photos to speak for itself too.

Must see!
Aug 2016 • Couples
We were told by a friend who lives in Lörrach to drive to Belchen. First of all, it was a beautiful drive through the countryside and towns. Once we arrived, we took the cable car up. (Next time we are going to go earlier to hike up). Once at the top, the views are spectacular! It was a beautiful, clear, crisp day. We hiked to the top by the cross. Make sure you take cash. Hotel & restaurant do not take credit cards. Thank goodness the cable car did lol.
