The almost forgotten and definitely unspoilt part of Italy named Marche is truly a heaven on earth made of rolling hills, nice people and great historical heritage. Montefeltro is a smaller part of the whole where most of its treasures are located (think of Urbino for instance, a UNESCO heritage site). Macerata Feltria, listed as one of the most beautiful places of Italy, is located in this area. It was founded by the greeks Pelasgi, conquered by romans and treasured for the local termal springs and finally destroyed by Goths. The surviving romans created on a hilltop a walled little hamlet the so called Castello. Nowadays this area is a wonderful and peaceful area, there are several old city doors, walls, a gothic chapel, an archeological museum and several amazing palaces. Palazzo Evangelisti of 15th century is the most beautiful with reamarkable frescoes. This place definitely deserves a visit, the fresh air, the view and the peace it exudes are one of a kind.…
