Inaugurated in 1876, the Mount Royal Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the highly skilled designer behind New York's Central Park. It is an ideal site for admiring a wide variety of plants and birds or for enjoying outdoor activities. Les amis de la montagne offer a variety of services and activities that provide wonderful opportunities to discover the beauty and wealth of resources that the park has to offer, including the new permanent exhibition at the Maison Smith and interactive terminals and map.

It is definitely worse to hike up Mont Royal to enjoy the fantastic view over Montreal. Enjoy this fantastic location.

I took the bus from downtown to visit. The view from the top is amazing!!! There is a hall on the top, open to the public. It has an open fireplace in winter, cafe (reasonably priced), clean restrooms, and microwave below (what a great idea!)....More

Even though crowded on the public holiday, it was still beautiful. Catch a nice day when the rest of Montreal isn’t there and there lots of places for a quiet picnic, or a nap, or a romantic walk in the woods.

Mount Royal offer the best views possible from the city. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because I feel like there should be more trail maps!

Only drove by on our coach tour of Montreal and it looked amazing. M If I return (which I would definitely like), I will make sure to walk the Park.

We entered through the gates at the top of Magill University and it was free. I think you only have to pay for renting recreational equipment (skis, sleds, skates - not sure if they have bikes).
