Inaugurated in 1876, the Mount Royal Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the highly skilled designer behind New York's Central Park. It is an ideal site for admiring a wide variety of plants and birds or for enjoying outdoor activities. Les amis de la montagne offer a variety of services and activities that provide wonderful opportunities to discover the beauty and wealth of resources that the park has to offer, including the new permanent exhibition at the Maison Smith and interactive terminals and map.

The endless staircases might frighten a little, and anyway you should go slow if not accustomed to exercising.

We took a cab to the top then walked to the chateau and down the trails back to town. Great views of the city and very well-maintained wide trails.

Wonderful views from the lookouts making it worth the stairs. Cross would be better to view in the evening when lit up. Absolutely stunning in the fall could easily spend half a day here

The day we went the fog/haze never did lift by 11AM when we gave up. I guess the view is good but from what we saw the city does not have that attractive a skyline.

Nice views, but unless it is Summer it is sort of a drive by destination. Montreal has better parks for just walking or site-seeing.

The park is mostly walking trails. You can drive through and there is parking at the lookout point, but is limited.
