This houses a wonderful collection of artefacts from the area including some great First Nation things. Loved the classy gift shop. Only 8 dollars to get in. Well curated and comers all aspects of British Columbia. A must if visiting the area

My spouse and I visited on a port call day from our Alaska cruise. We decided to explore on our own rather than take a shore excursion, and, because the weather was rather miserable, decided a museum was a good place to spend the majority of our time in port. The facility was nicely laid-out, and the exhibits were very interesting, particularly the Native artworks. Placards provided a good deal of information about the history of Prince Rupert and various Native cultures. One of the rooms has a spectacular view of the waterfront and comfortable seating for a relaxing pause. There was a temporary exhibit featuring women artists that was intelligently curated and included many beautiful works. The gift shop was a cut above most and featured many books on the area. The fact that the museum is located only steps from the pier where cruise ships dock was a definite plus!

Nicely presented art, clothing, tools and other historical items from the region. Near Cruise Ship terminals—just up from Pacific Mariners Park.

The museum was opened especially for our group, which was much appreciated. The museum is a delight and the staff are clearly enthusiastic about the contents. We were given a guided tour by Ashley, who was very knowledgeable. Thanks! There is much to see and it is hard to absorb it in one visit, but we tried. The gift shop is very nice and my sasquatch mask is a conversation piece.
Please visit and enjoy.

So much local and historical information and artifacts here! Very reasonable $8/per person admission and so much to see! (During time of our visit, August 2021, masks required inside). My husband and I, and our 2 adult sons (we were showing them their first ever view of the Pacific Ocean), spent just over an hour here and enjoyed every minute of it! A MUST SEE when in Prince Rupert!

A well presented and organised collection of artifacts and art works explaining the culture, history and development of the region in a beautifully designed building with views to the channel.
As it was Covid we needed to book a time to visit, which we were able to do easily by phone on the day. My only complaint is that this was not yet explained on their website, we only found out when we arrived at the museum and read a notice on the door. For preplanning an update on the website would be welcome.

It is a very small museum. The artefacts are mostly new replicas inspired from native art but , in my opinion , subjects for an exhibition not for a museum. Good gift shop at the exit though (haha)

Very interesting museum, showing the history of Prince Rupert.
Some of the videos shown where nice to see.
However the quality of those videos wasn't too good while it was analogue.
But woth your while, this museum!

For a relatively small town this musuem presents a comprehensive take on first nations cutlure, art and traditions. It is a quiet contemplative building well worth an hour or so and particularly so if the weather closes in as it so often can in this area.
