We really hadn’t heard much about this reserve but as we were close after a visit to Coba ruins and the cenotes we decided to have a look. Entrance fee was compared to other places on the higher side but we went into the jungle with a private guide in search of the Spidermonkeys. It did not disappoint. The local maya community takes care of this 5000 ha reserves and protects the many spieces within. With your visit you support them and the ecosystem. As an added bonus we good a soundshow by the Howler apes, saw and eagle, vultures, even a hummingbird and walked over ancient maya ruins! Juan and his funny dog was an excellent guide! Worth the detour!

Monkeys, zip line, swimming, cenotes, ancestral Mayan rituals – in Punta Laguna you get it all! Get a guide and to the whole tour! We went there without any reservation.
We started with a Mayan ceremony, then we headed to the zip line, after that we took the canoe over the lagoon to get to the cenote. To get to the cenote you were hissed down with a rope. While there you are alone in a dark cave full of bats – they also say there are old Mayan skeletons on the cenote floor. After that we took a lovely swim in the lagoon.
While going around in the forest we saw both howler and skeleton monkeys.
Very recommended tour!

We went in Febuary. Arrived midafternoon after touring Coba. It was the perfect time to see the monkeys. We also bought some products there to support the local community.

What a wonderful experience. Juan is a lovely jungle guide.
We saw howler and spider monkeys, paddled a canoe, hiked in the jungle, zip lined over the laguna and swam in a bat-filled cenote. (Note it takes some effort to climb back up out of the cave.)
It was not busy which made it feel even more special. This area is owned and operated by thirty local Mayan families.

A wonderful lakeside experience an hour from Tulum. There are ziplines and cenotes too.
I managed to see spider monkees and howler monkees during my visit. A decent visit should take 2-3 hours and is ideal for a different type of experience away from the beach. Although I didn't have a guide, I managed to get around okay and seen plenty of wildlife.

We went as a group of 8 (6 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 12) and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in Playa del carmen and was in regular communication with Jesus from the reserve to ensure everything ran smoothly. Jesus organised a private driver for us for the day, which was great as it meant we could go to see the ruins at Coba after the reserve too.
The reserve itself was beautiful and our guide was fantastic, by the time the cleansing ceremony was finished, the guide had already found a howler monkey high in the tree tops and after watching it for a while, we found another in the same area. Really good sightings of both so we got some great pics. We then went for a walk through the jungle and found a family of around 8 spider monkeys (one with a baby!) who playing in the trees above us, another great sighting and it was especially nice to see the monkeys completely free in their natural habitat.
We then went to swim in the cenote, ziplining, kayaking and swimming in the laguna which were also very enjoyable although I would recommend using a life jacket in the cenote to fully enjoy it as it can challenging to swim for the whole time. After the reserve, the driver took us to a local restaurant to get lunch then off to Coba.
Overall everything was perfect and this was probably the best organised trip of our holiday as Jesus ensured everything went as planned. I would definitely recommend this to other travellers and the kids in our group thought it was the best part of the entire holiday. Great reserve and great staff!!

Monkeys!! Everywhere!! In the reviews I read that it's best to come here late in teh afternoon, otherwise most of the monkeys are in the deep jungle. Well, we took a chance and came around noon and were lucky to see, well, lots. Stopped counting there were so many!! Turns out in the later wet season (October), the trees that are on the walking trail have fruit, the monkeys favorite yummers, and they were all above us. we saw some doing acrobatics, mothers with babies, what a show.
This place is just incredible, both for what you see and for what they are doing to preserve this part of the jungle, the monkeys home. We learned so much from our guide about the area, the nature, and the mayan culture.

We went with 2 adults and two elementary aged children and all had a fantastic time. What a special place- an opportunity to learn from and support the Maya community while having a blast with adventure activities in the most gorgeous nature setting! A must do.

Hello Justin ,
We visit this Amaizing Reserve with a Private Tour Guide you can reach her at IG : costaprivatetourguide and by wassap app at +521-984-144-5722 .
When you arrive at this Reserve a local mayan Tour Guide will be with You .you cannot go inside by yourself the reason it’s because you will easily get lost inside the Jungle many many treckings and no signals.
After this we went to eat in a Farm mayan Delicious . This was a great Experiencence with our guide .we also visit a Private cenote only for us Amaizing .

Is it necessary to book a tour in advance, or can you just show up at the reserve and get a same day tour? We will be staying in Coba but not sure of our timeline yet.
Also, is the reserve open on January 1st? Thanks!

It would be better to book a tour for a better experience. Like this we can recommend you the best time to come and give you the information about what you should bring depending on the tour you take.

What is the admission cost per person for adult vs. child?
How much extra is it for a tour? Is it also a per person charge.
How much time should I allocate for this attraction to see the monkeys, canoe, and zipline?

Maybe 1.5 to 2 hours? Depending on how hard it is to find the monkeys! I'm not sure about the admission cost because we entered with a tour group and it was part of our cost for the whole day tour.
