This is a bigger version of the river walk in San Antonio. Not as many restaurants but quite a long a river cruise on a man made river with narration if you understand Spanish. We were there at Christmas and it was all decked out for the holidays and I am told its a light show at night. We had a boat full of families with their kids and we saw the original foundry that helped with establishing Monterrey. The Mexican History Museum is right next to the boat ride and although we didn't have time to visit it looked impressive. To ride the boat you need to buy tickets at a small ticket office and then walk down to the jetty with your tickets. The whole area is historic with a huge plaza around the Governor's Palace which might be open to tour but I am not sure. The area around the palace seems to be judicial with lots of businesses, law offices and restaurants. We had a pleasant couple of hours with the boat ride and wandering around the area being tourists. Very clean and safe and well worth a visit while you are in Monterrey. Be aware as nice as Monterrey is almost no one speaks English, I guess its not as touristy as places like Cancun.

I was not that impressed. It's just a man made river with some restaurants and trinket shops. Nice for a date but not a tourist destination. It was nice that they have restrooms there.

Well I thought of visiting the Museums located here and take a boat ride to Fundidora. I have a separate post on the great museums they have here. I took a taxi to the museum of history. To locate where the boat rides are takes time. There’s absolutely no directions or maps or anything. Anyway after finally buying the tickets, I went and stood at the end of the queue - a vet long queue. . The boats come -one every 12 minutes and every time a boat comes, we move 10-12 people spaces. Well by that count it would take me 4 hours. The man waiting in front of me told me that it is going to take at least 2 hours. I went back to the ticket counter, asked for a refund and took a taxi to fundidora. Horribly managed tourist attraction.

I took the river boat to go to this park. The weather was really nice this time of the year here. Horono 3 was interesting, but the museum part was boring to me. I found other museums in the centro much more interesting. However the view was amazing! The walk in the park was relaxing.

We had been in Monterrey several times but this was our first visit in this part of town. Really enjoyed the sights and the grounds. I wish we could have stayed to see the music concerts that were scheduled later that day.
