- GerryBaron06Spring City, Pennsylvania1,224 contributionsMagnificent beach viewWe had a prperty across from the beach. Every day, we sat on the balcony and watched the tourists flow on tour buses and safaris between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. The views of the beach, ocean, and mushroom rocks are magnificent. The sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep each night. There are several good restaurants within walking distance. Dina's was our favorite. It was across from where we were staying. Dina and her staff are so friendly and down to earth. The food was delicious, and the drinks were on point. I especially liked the rum punch. There are several places from which to take pictures of this beautiful beach.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 February 2024
- MonikafromSurrey2,567 contributionsIt’s the wild side.We visit Bathsheba every time we come to Barbados. Wow those waves were marvellous and a few surfers were out trying to catch the good one. Such interesting scenery with swaying palm trees and unique rock formations and wild ocean.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 February 2024
- Anne C4 contributionsMy Happy PlaceMy husband and I stumbled across this beach many years ago whilst driving round the island. Swimming was out of the question, so I did what I’d seen a group of local ladies do. I found a large rock pool and sat in it and let the water trickle in safe in the knowledge that the Atlantic waves were out in the distance. I would still be there now if my husband hadn’t dragged me away.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 29 August 2024
- BarheatHamilton, Canada1,773 contributionsMemorable Photo StopBathsheba Beach offers memorable views of "mushroom" rocks. The Atlantic Ocean has eroded the base of rocks creating the unique shape. While you may see surfers, this definitely is not for swimming. There is a local bus stop by the beach.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 September 2024
- roginho007Soleure, Switzerland165 contributionsWorthwhile excursionA nice trip to the east coast of Barbados. Coarse rock formations and some large stones lying in the water gives beautiful photo motifs but not suitable for swimming due to the rough seas. Otherwise not a tourist resort, very small and manageable! Lots of tourist buses on the roads.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 14 September 2024
- Karen IBridgetown, Barbados19 contributionsTake the scenic route!A beautiful scenic spot on the east coast. Feel the sea breeze, allow the waves to carry away your cares and get lost in the natural beauty of this place. Take a little picnic and relax as this is not a beach for swimming. There are a couple of bars/eateries close by so you can even pick up a bite/cool beverage whilst there. A MUST to add to your itinerary!Visited October 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 October 2024
- christopheralan_tripPoznan, Poland24 contributionsBathsheba Beach is breathtaking!Bathsheba Beach is breathtaking! The dramatic rock formations and powerful waves create a unique, peaceful atmosphere. While not ideal for swimming, it’s perfect for scenic walks and enjoying the views. A must-visit spot in Barbados! Five stars!Visited December 2024Travelled on businessWritten 12 December 2024
- Rebecca SBedale, United Kingdom49 contributionsBathsheba / overwhelming beautiful!Absolutely beautiful place. Dramatic scenery and dramatic sea. Alittle overwhelming on the sea front and we did not choose to swim. Very hardcore! Some lovely restaurants but need to plan ahead as everything closes Sunday/ Monday. Or isn’t open at all . Some wonderful places such as community centre at the top of the hill, the Round House and The Atlantis . Shop before you get here. Expect a lot of potholes. Very quiet except the roar of the sea. A lot less people than the West coast which is lovely but you do need a car or you’ll be waiting a long time. Local buses remind me of the song - Bat out of Hell!Visited January 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 January 2025

The view of the beach from the cliff is beyond amazing. I am not sure if I would recommend this beach for swimming as the water is a bit rough . The beach is highly recommended by surfers who can be seen any given day riding the waves. You can definitely take a stroll along the beach or even have a picnic in the park where they are a few tables and benches or you can find shelter from the sun under a tree. A vehicle is recommended when travelling to this area of the island. You can also take the bus but please make sure to contact the Barbados Transport Board for the bus schedule . There are a few restaurants in the area as well.

This beach is worth a special trip just to see the rock formations. It's a beautiful location in the middle of the eastern coastline but not really a casual swimming beach.
My tip: Bus #6 from Fairchild Street Terminal in Bridgetown runs up to Bathsheba Beach so you can get there and back for 7$ BBD

The huge boulders undercut by eons of water erosion are the stars of this beach. What an other-worldly sight and how on earth did they get there? Well, turns out those boulders are actually rock formations broken away from an ancient coral reef! This is the rugged east coast of Barbados, and those Atlantic rollers bring surfers to Bathsheba beach for the Soup Bowl an annual local and international surfing competition. The beach itself is beautiful and very scenic but may not be your best swimming option. It was quite weedy the day we were there.

This is not a beach where you go to swim, it is much too dangerous. There is excellent surfing here with up to 12 foot waves. The view is spectacular. The turbulent sea swells around rock formations, such as the soup bowl, that are amazing. There are places to eat on the beach.

Wish we had not been on a rushed tour. We had a little lunch at the restaurant there, nothing to write home about, but nice for a drink and a munchie. There was some trash right in front of the restaurant, it would be nice if they spend some time cleaning the place that makes people go to their restaurant.

We stopped at Bathsheba for a pit stop and a drink. The rocks of Bathsheba are a geological wonder, well worth visiting. The small cafe on the beach tho' had a very poor selection of drinks, ice-creams etc (very poor quality) . The "orange juice" was just an americanised, artificially sweetened squash style drinks - it was awful. There was a very unpleasant and pervading smell of raw sewage sitting on the deck of the cafe. The whole resort needs a lot of investment as it could be a superb get away location.

Stopped by here on a tour of the island. The view was very nice with huge sculptured type rocks out from the beach. The beach itself was narrow and filled with seaweed. There was a large grassy area up from the beach which had a refreshment building selling souvenirs, snacks and drinks. There were also public restrooms.

I went to Bathsheba as part of my East Coast tour of Barbados. It was a breathtaking view of the sea. There is a short pathway which is accessible by foot and a photo op by the rock formations. If you go with a local, you also get some of the history of the place and the old train route. A good one to visit if you like Caribbean scenery

There’s a little road in and it drops down and comes up the other side of the bay, so whichever way you arrive it’s downhill. The view is beautiful and the waves are huge. It was very windy so no one was surfing, but we were told that could change by the evening. We sat and watched and took in the view for a while and then headed off to Harrison’s Cave which was really good fun.

Has this area been effected by the recent hurricanes.
Written 27 December 2017
No, it has not been affected. However, keep in mind that the Atlantic ocean in Batsheba area is rough, the beach is rocky and though scenic for watching, it's not good for swimming, but best suited for surfing. It's a good spot to visit for an hour or two, enjoy the wild, untamed scenery, take some photos, but that's about it. I can not imagine spending more than an afternoon, let alone all of my vacation there. Unless you are an avid surfer and crashing waves are what you are looking for (in addition to an... uhm... authentic, rural, undeveloped area with literally nothing to do), go to the west side.
Written 28 December 2017
I would agree with other people the sea on the east coast is suitable for surfing but there is no place to moor a boat in Bathsheba, get the bus from Bridgetown, it’s 2 Barbados dollars each, great value and a lovely journey.

Best places for parking at Bathsheba? If there is public parking how far is it from the rock formations?
Written 1 November 2017
There is no public parking as such, just get as close to the formation and you will either find provisional parking on the side of the road or you park where locals parking.
Last time I parked here: 13.213174, -59.521157
(put in search in google maps and switch to satellite view)

How far away from the cruise ship port is Bathsheba beach?
Written 8 February 2015
By taxi, about an hour. Negotiate a deal to have a taxi take you around and wait. If you have lunch at Atlantis hotel, the restaurant provides lunch for driver. I think the drive can be around $70 USD. There are van taxis that you can share with a group.

More ore Less 30 km and 45 minute in car. Use navigator car sistem & you will arrive most quickly
Written 5 February 2015
If you pick up a taxi from the cruise ship pier (go outside the gates to get a cheaper deal) it will take 30 - 40 minutes to Bathsheba beach. It's the same time from Bridgetown. Bathsheba's well worth the visit. Get the taxi to take you along the coastline in the area - it's beautiful. Christine
