We only had two days in Puerto Rico before we would be boarding our ship for a cruise on the Celebrity Summit. We decided on a half day tour to the El Yunque Rainforest to see sites out side of San Juan.

The driver/tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the flora and fauna of the area and on our way back he even took us along the coastline pointing out great spots to go to the beach. Our booking with Castillo tours was easy and they communicated with us on how to meet up for our tour.

It was a great experience and I would recommend them for any exploring you are considering while in Puerto Rico.

We reserved our spots months in advance, but about a week before, we got a call that the catamaran has been dry docked and was not
going to be water ready. They offered us a date in January, but we were not going to still be in town, so they found us a spot on an East Island Tours boat. Unfortunately, that boat was departing an hour earlier, which led to us having to switch our car rental pick up time and send half of us on the shuttle (which we had to call, reserve, and pay for through EIT). During our layover on the trip to PR, we got another message that the weather conditions might lead to cancellation, and asking if we wanted to reschedule, again for a date later than we would be in PR. We declined and were told there was a 60% chance the trip would be cancelled in the morning, but they’d let us know. We didn’t hear anything, and when we called in the morning, no one answered. So we went to the dock, and were able to
go out, albeit on a different type of
Boat. The trip itself was awesome, but that should really be in a different review, since it was not Castillo’s boat or crew. I do appreciate them getting us on another boat.

I am glad we were able to accommodate you with one of our Partners. Very happy that you had a great time and the weather was fine. On a Tropical Island that is sometimes unpredictable. Hope to see you next year aboard our Barefoot IV Catamaran

We contacted Castillo Tours to set up multiple aspects of our family vacation. In advance they sent a detailed itinerary which included what protocols were necessary to visit the island, our transportation around the island, tours, boating, fishing and restaurant reservations.
The highlight was the Barefoot catamaran to a beautiful island, great staff, wonderful food and great rum punch!
We were able to see so much during our visit thanks to the team at Castillo!

I have some complaints regarding my reservation on October 3, 2020 which made my trip unpleasant. First I was called to be at the meeting  point earlier at 8:15 AM to leave at 8:30 AM, to later find out we were leaving at the original time,9am. We were told we would be leaving and we ended up waiting for another group that was leaving at a later time. They joined the two groups on the same catamaran for their convenience. While we were on the way is when I realized that we weren't visiting the island that we paid for. One of the East Island Excursions employees told me Culebra island is closed as we were passing the island. I was never told during booking that Culebra island was closed even though in the reservation's email we requested Culebra island. Culebra island was confirmed and not Culebrita island by an employee. I thought that it should have been clear that island was closed and I would of decided if we wanted to continue with the reservation. Then I reached out to express my concerns regarding the island being closed and they stated that they made the changes due to choppy waters. In my opinion, the waters were not choppy however you can be the judge of whether or not the waters were choppy by viewing the attached photo. Therefore, as a warning before getting on the catamaran with East Island Excursions/Castillo Tours, make sure you are going to the island you paid for. I demanded some type of refund but was denied.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize we could not meet your expectations. Our goal is to deliver a great experience. But it is clearly stated on our website , that the location my change due to weather or ocean conditions. What you consider not choppy may have a strong undertow that day or it is too windy to safely anchor. This is on our web site: Depending on water conditions, our captains may take you to Luis Pena, Carlos Rosario, or Melones. We then move on to our beach stop. Our usual destination is Flamenco beach. Occasionally, due to water conditions, we may choose Culebrita, Playa Tortuga, or another beautiful beach that will be the best to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. At either location, you can swim into the beach or do some more snorkeling.

The entire experience was amazing! I was looking for a fun boat trip with booze and food with my friends and they delivered! The crew was super professional and accommodating the entire time. My friends and I mainly stayed around the boat but you can also snorkel if that’s your thing. I’ve tried a few other catamaran companies in Puerto Rico and I think where Castillo tours excels is in the quality of the experience. I have food allergies so I mostly expect that I’ll always have to carry around my food and drinks, and while most tour companies try to accommodate to food restrictions, Castillo tours catered a meal I could actually eat! That might not mean a lot to those without food restrictions but it means the world of difference to those of us with allergies. Their attention to detail to make the experience great for all guests is unparalleled. I’m booking my next trip with them again for next month already!
COVID Note: Their adherence to the health and safety of all of us on board during these COVID times made me feel super safe and that’s coming from a germophobe (me)!

We were there visiting during the week of the big earthquakes. They weren’t scheduling any tours on the Thursday however we were flying out on the Friday. I spoke with Tina with Castillo tours and she scheduled us a tour anyways since we had 14 people in our group. Carlos was our tour guide and he did an amazing job. So friendly and educational. Very sincere and patient with our elderly in our group. This Oklahoma group will forever recommend your company and Carlos. Thank you for going above and beyond.

This was a really fun snorkeling excursion and my group was so glad we booked with Castillo Tours. The event says to arrive by 715 AM and they depart around 8 AM. I would recommend arriving that early to get your gear, apply lotion and getting a covered seat on the catamaran. The excursion ran for about 5 hours. About 2.5 hours at Icacos Beach and another hour snorkeling. The team on board was really professional. The boat was very clean from the gear, drinking/ seating area and the bathroom. Our drinks were constantly being refilled. Comparing our boat with the other ones on the pier, ours was definitely the cleanest one from the exterior.

You get the option of Pina colada and soda with rum drinks. For lunch, we were served chips, pesto pasta, peanut free vegetarian pasta and bagged lunches which included cookies and a turkey sandwich. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience on board. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. We all felt like we got great value considering it was 5 hours for less than $100 worth of entertainment. We definitely got our $s worth with all of the alcohol and food that we consumed.

I came to visit a friend in PR this past February and she organized a Sunday trip for me & some girlfriends on my first weekend there. It was so fun going out on this Cat! We got to sit in the front part of the boat on the ride out to the island & it was so beautiful. They had several drink options (included in the price) and would bring them to you as soon as the ride started (my fave was the Piña Colada, but you also can’t go wrong with a Ron & Coke in PR!). My friends & I basically hung out on the floating carpet that came with the boat & enjoyed snacks, drinks, and chatting with other guests, but you could easily enjoy a walk on the beach & go shelling or just swim in the beautiful water.

We thought we signed up for the 1/2 day trip that did not include a hike. (I have a broken foot in the final weeks of recovery). I even called and was told there was no hiking. Not true. I hiked the trail, and did okay but would have preferred not to. Also, the tour said there was a stop at a visitor's center and there would be a film. We learned it had been destroyed by the hurricane. So I think the tour description needs to be updated. Also, the vehicle had absolutely no shocks and the ride was rough. That said, our guide was very good. Thank you.

I am sorry for the confusion regarding the itinerary. The Guide must have been one of our Partners trying to give a little extra. But I will speak with them to ensure they don’t alter the Itinerary as it is online. Thank you for bringing this to our attention
