Somehow i missed all these reviews when planning our day in Constanza. So we decided to go to the Salto with an ordinary 2WD rental car. Big mistake, even after having spent 2 days on Dominican dirt roads. We got only a few km down the road and turned around because of the treacherous conditions. Scenery was definitely great as others have noted.

A 1 hour drive from Constanza and 17km of rough dirt road, 4wd vehicle a must, but only a 5 min walk to the falls. I went in late sept on a sunny day. Try to arrive by 12 noon as the lower falls and pool, only has sun from 10am to 2pm (because it is in a canyon). Do bring a change of cloths, towel, drinks and some food. Also bring toilet paper as the restrooms are a mess. There are 2 waterfalls upper and lower. I only seen the lower waterfalls. Very cold water, low 50's F. Thank God this is in a National Forest.

The drive here is both beautiful and treacherous. I would only recommend for an experienced driver to take the trek here and you MUST have 4WD/ AWD. The scenery is breathtaking. Bring water shoes if you want to take a dip or get your feet wet as it's rocky along the edges. One thing I regret is not bringing along toys, coloring books, notebooks, pens, pencils for the local children you see on the side of the road. They seem content with life but they live so remotely from the city that it must be hard to get supplies up there.

This is in the national park Valle Nuevo, a lot of mountains to get there. The waters are really cold, and it is an amazing place. Amazing view.

In the central mountains of the Dominican Republic, 10 km from the City of Constanza at 2,000 meters seen the water falls, 14 Celsius degree and beautifull mountains views this water fall is impresive. You cannot image the view, the temperature, the water fall in a place were most people and tourist think about beach, sun and night life. As we say, Dominican Republic has it all. Hot and cold wether, beaches and mountains, merengue, bolero and bachata. Salto de Aguas Blancas is a combiantion of everything. Discover it and say, i also was there.
