The drive to the top of Clingmans Dome consumed about 2 or 3 hours of our day. It's a beautiful view once you get to the top. If you're visiting during peak season I would almost recommend skipping this attraction as traffic can get very...More

Clingmans Dome is a must see. The views are breathtaking and the strong can hike to the very top where I can only guess how the view must be. Don't be deterred by the crowded parking. Usually, if you are patient, a parking space will...More

Fairly easy hike to the top up a paved path, but the views were absolutely amazing. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but well worth finding a spot and hiking up!

This is one no one should ever not do when coming to the Smokies. The hike up to the top is very strenuous but once you're there, you can see for miles around. The views are breathtaking. I will warn you that the observation tower...More

Our serious hiking was Mt. LeConte. but we had to come and see the classic Smokies stop from their childhood. View from the parking lot is breathtaking enough, we took the pretty strenuous hike to the overlook and were extremely well satisfied.

Definitely a must-see stop if you're visiting the Smoky Mountains. We went around 4pm and it was really foggy! We laughed because once you reached the top, we literally couldn't see anything. We were surrounded in clouds. I'm not sure when is the best time...More

Definitely worth the walk. Walk is steep, but not difficult. Very well paved. Can’t see anything on top when tower is closed, but can take a stroll on the Appalachian trail.

We enjoyed this trip to Clingmans Dome even though the Dome itself was closed when we got there. Repairs were being made. The scenery and pull offs were beautiful on the way up and down. We started walking up (which is quite an up hill/blacktop...More

Super road all way to top. Lots of scenic pulloffs to view colors, babbling brooks, etc. Once at top the misty clouds were all over giving a very eerie effect. Kids were climbing on large boulders, others just sitting and looking at majestic views. Totally...More

Clingmans Dome road and the dune itself should be open in April. That being said, that will all depend on the weather. Ice is your biggest concern that time of the year. I have been to Clingmans dome as late at Halloween... More
