Impressive Fortress
May 2021
there maybe parts of the fortress that were started by the Crusaders, but this is Mameluk Fortress controlling the access from the Holy Land towards Damascus, it is an amazing site.

Do enter via the secret gate at the base from the parking area and walk yourself around....very nice views from the top towards the Upper Galilee valley

A fantastic fortess in the Golan Heights, overlooking the Hula valley, with beautiful sights (weather permitting). Don't miss climbing up to the top tower. Enjoy

Beautiful place to visit
Jun 2020 • Couples
We came early just when they opened at 10:00. There were only another 2 couples. The place is very well organized and you walk around on well marked walks. The bathroom was clean and the whole place was very welcoming.

Beautiful castle
Nov 2019
This is the largest crusade-era castle in Israel. The view from the top is breathtaking. The castle must have looked impressive in its time. If you are in the Golan Heights area this is a must visit.

Incredible experience
Oct 2019 • Couples
Nimrods fortress is situated in the Golan heights area of Northern Israel. It is historically and archeologically interesting. In addition there is a lot to see by walking around the area. There are a lot of steps to climb but it is worth it. Highly recommended.

Really well preserved and pristine. Enjoy the silence and the history that fills the place, as well as the spectacular views. Not crowded at all.

Exceptional place
Jul 2019 • Family
This is my favorite place in the North. It is very well preserved. It is in a beautiful setting. It's historic. It's full of shade and indoor spaces, and the mountain wind cools the air. There are limitless nooks to explore. Scenery is breathtaking. You park right near the fortress so there is no effort involved in getting to the site (though you have to be ok with walking uneven steps). And best of all, on this July Thursday it was completely quiet at noon. There were just 2 other cars besides ours. I had total quiet and the place all to myself.

Just great.

Beautiful historical fortress worthy to visit
May 2019 • Friends
The Nimrod Fortress (or Qalat Nimrod) is a site worth a visit during every seaso of the year. A well-reserved fortress built during the Crusader era by the Ayoubid and the Mameluk rulers. Fantastic view to the Golan and Galilee,

Most impressive hilltop fortress I have ever visited
Apr 2019 • Couples
I happened upon this large medival fortress atop a high mountain ridge in the northern reached of the Golan Heights of Israel. The extent of this structure was impressive. Considering the time it was constructed one wonders how this structure was even achieved. One can only surmise what this place was like in its full glory.
