Along with my family of two i visited this temple.Even though it is not a pooja time there is provision for you to see the Swetha Vinayagar and pray for your SPecial wishes to com true.Calm and quiet place, enough shade is there we waited for annadana and have lunch with SWetha VInayagar at the annadana hall. Extremely delicious food was that and the best thing was that there is not much rush to have annadana prasadam. you can stay there for long time as it is an ideal Place for meditation too

Place is around swamimalai, 2-3 kms from the murugan temple. The main deity ganesha is in white color. Considered to be done from froth of sea. Most of the times the temple from inside remains close as there are few visitors. But you can still see the deity from the open door grills. If you have a handy torch, it will help.

Beautiful quiet temple with a very special and serene atmosphere. The white Ganesha is beautiful yett the main temple extends way beyond it. Off to the side behind the main shrine to Lord Shiva is an ancient Kali temple. The unique thing is that Kali is smiling sweetly. Sitting there for a few minutes, we felt blessed. The Kings of this region would come here for darshan before going into battle. The temple priest was very sweet and devotional. He showed us around. Since there was no crowd in this temple, we could enjoy the atmosphere. One of my favorite places in Kumbakonam.

This is one of the most beautiful temples I have visited. It is ancient and the spiritual energy reverberates from its every pore. It seems to be largely ignored by the many devotees that go to the popular Swamimalai temple near by. Go there and imbibe the special atmosphere. I have visited this temple many times and the most recent in Feb 2015. Although it is primarily dedicated to Shiva, it is known more for the shrine to Sweta Vinayakar, the white Ganesha. This temple has been revered by the Tevaram hymns of the 7th - 9th centuries. The white Ganesha is said to be made of the foam from the churning of the oceans. Sage Durvasa is said to have done a yagya here and all the sages participated in it. You can feel the years of devotion in this temple. the priests sing the chants beautifully in all the various shrines within the temple. I highly recommend this temple.
