The area
Neighbourhood: Siraya National Scenic Area
The Siraya National Scenic Area extends from Jhongpu in Chiayi on the north to Longci in Tainan on the south; borders its neighbours with Zengwun Reservoir and Nanhua Reservoir on the east and National Highway 3 on the west. The area covers 16 towns and villages. It is an important base for Siraya culture. The Siraya National Scenic Area is within easy access through National Highway 3 and exiting at interchanges between Chiayi and Tainan. The eco system in the park is well conserved, so visitors can not only see the mud hot springs, but also wander along the most romantic and beautiful silk cotton road in spring. The scenic area also boasts sunrise in a sea of clouds in Erliao as magical as those in the Chinese brush paintings. Visitors can enjoy a boat ride. There are different routes to choose: Zengwun Reservoir, Wushantou Reservoir, and Hutoupi Reservoir. As the boat streaks through the water, visitors can either enjoy fishing or see the eagles hovering above. If you love the mountain views or jogging, you will be bathing in the forest, away from the busy city and enjoy the mountain delicacies and fruit feast.

Stayed at Mutsun Springs Resort - fabulous place - they took us here to see the fire/water spring. Amazing natural spot and stay to watch the sunset. It is amazing!

There is not much mud left in the hot spring.
The resort that we went is average and good value.
There are restaurants along the road , chicken and vegetable are good.
It is a good day trip from Tainan.

A place well visiting when in Tainan or the neighbouring cities. There are lots of resorts offering pools and spas. Got by without speaking a word of Chinese and the locals all were warm and welcoming.

Guangziling is a famous for its unique hot springs. Here, you can not only take a bath, but experience a mud spa. Although it is a resort area, there are not many tourists. So, you can really relax with local people. There are several hotels that offer one-day visit of their bath. Tongmao Hot Spring Hotel where I took a bath was not bad.

whole town is for hot spring. There are many hot spring places, mostly it is like hotel, so people book the room then enjoy the spa. But I pay a visit like day trip, so hard to find one day admission. Only 3 I found, then I chose the nearest one from the bus stop, which had promotion price for Thursday. Anyway, even if it was not promotion, it is worth to have experience in this spa. It would be more reasonable to stay one or couple of nights. one day trip was too far from Kaohsiung, and pricy in total.

If you are used to western spas, this is not for you. The reception area looks decent, but the aesthetics decline as you descend to the spa entrance. An adult ticket cost TWD400.

Lockers in the changing room have no locks, but they provide rental lockers outside for a minimal TWD10.

Remember to bring along your swimming cap if you would like to dip into the swimming pool. If you forgot your swimming gear, you can purchase it at the retail cabinet which cost below TWD1000.

Lastly, the main highlight of the mud pool was a disappointment. The mud was placed in a small wooden pail for application and I suspect it was diluted with water.

A pretty disappointing experience overall.

... it's the best in town.

Not really hard to get to by taxi from Sinying train station. The main draw is the hot spring, but the "chicken in an urn" is a must-have too.
