Great exercise & photo opportunity! Be mindful of the monkeys and they won't bother you.
This place is definitely worth a visit. If you're driving (car or motorbike) there are multiple places to park as you continue up the hill. If you're walking, keep in mind that it's a pretty steep trek. The monkeys keep to themselves as long as they're not harassed. I opted out of feeding them to avoid any confrontation. If they don't see food in your hands, they won't bother you. Be mindful and use common sense.

    Pleasant walk
I went solo just to spent some time. I left the scooter just before the entrance. For my safety i did not carry any food and always kept distance from monkeys. There were a few dogs around so i was paying attention to them too. I did not walked all the way since there were a lot of monkeys around already and just stayed there to observe them. If you don't go after them they only mind their business so ended up very chilled walk. It was afternoon so there were not many people around.

How to succeed at Monkey Hill
This is an AWESOME hike! Must-do if youā€™re in Phuket. Lots and lots of monkeys that are very respectful. Here is how you succeed and NOT be a moron like many of the people in these reviews with ā€œbadā€ experiences: 1. Donā€™t try to touch the monkeys, especially the babies. 2. Donā€™t feed the monkeys and donā€™t bring any food. 3. Donā€™t carry anything in your hands except a phone. 4. Respect their space and if you find one following you or making you uncomfortable, simply clap and yell ā€œHey!ā€ a couple times. This will not happen if you follow 1-3. I witnessed multiple people getting charged by the monkeys because they were trying to feed the monkeys and throwing food at them and being disrespectful. Also beware of the incline and endurance this hill requires. You will be soaked in sweat by the end!

If you want to see monkeys, this is the place
I had read a bunch of reviews about how aggressive the monkeys can be, so I was a bit nervous to visit, and definitely wasn't planning on feeding them. However, once I got there I saw a woman very calmly feeding monkeys and they were well behaved. Note, the monkeys at the bottom of the hill were going crazy. We took the scooter up to where the road closes to cars. I ended up buying some corn for 20 baht at this entry, and hand fed them with no issues. We went late in the afternoon, so perhaps they're less aggressive for food when they've already been eating all day.

Monkey Hill is one of Phuket must visit places
If you ever visit Phuket this one of must visit there, if you lucky you will several of them because I visited twice one time there was too many of them and the other time was only few of them. Also you will see a nice panorama for the city. There is a few restaurants there you can enjoy a nice meal

    Nice experience
We enjoyed it. There are really a lot of monkeys. You can buy the food at the entrance. At first i was quite scared cause monkeys were trying to attack to get the food, some people advised us even to get a stick. It doesn't work though monkeys are getting more agressive. So i just tried to feed them giving the food in their hands and it was so nice. Both me and monkeys enjoyed our communication. We didn't go to the very top of the hill, was too hot

This was such an amazing experience. It is certainly a hike so be prepared for burning thighs, but itā€™s so worth it when you get to the top and see the view! Take some water. Recommend going between 12-1pm as thatā€™s when the truck arrives with the lunch feed for the monkeys and they all come running out of the bushland- the feeder even let us feed them! (You canā€™t take food up yourself). You donā€™t see too many monkeys around/get near them if you go at non-feeding times. We walked from Phuket Old Town centre itā€™s only 15 mins, so if you donā€™t have a scooter donā€™t waste money on a taxi itā€™s a flat/easy walk!

I would not recommend coming here.
I had no food, kept my distance and at one point one of the monkeys scratched me on the back.

I now need to spend the next month getting vaccines against rabies.

Not safe.
Avoid.
I now hate monkeys.

If you love interacting with hungry monkeys, look no further! Itā€™s fun, itā€™s cute, but beware, theyā€™ll snatch bags of snacks out of your hands if youā€™re not careful at all times!

Took my family of monkey lovers here today. My ten year old has been left TRAUMATISED by this place. These poor monkeys. This place needs to be reviewed as it is not safe for the monkeys or for people. The monkeys were biting people, one another, and aggressive. Not their fault. Vendors selling people rainbow food dyed Cheetoā€™s to feed the monkeys would explain some of their aggressive, unnatural behaviour. But locals throwing stones at the monkeys and hitting them with sticks certainly did not help either. This place is a disgrace and has to be blacklisted by all tourists. Not only was my daughter attacked by the monkeys, she had to watch a big monkey pin down a smaller monkey and bite it so hard and continually that the monkey was shrieking in pain. This is a DEFINITE HARD NO TO VISIT.

monkeys are very aggressive they bite 10 to 20 turists per day.
We bought bananas before we went uphill, parked the car and went out on the marked area to feed them.
One monkey jumped on my kid tried to took all 20 bananas and bite him twice in the leg. So bad that we need to go to the hospitalā€¦
2 stitches, 5 vaccines, antibiotics, painkillersā€¦.
End of the holidays for whole family. Dont go there these are wild monkeys and nobody will warn you there, thereā€™s just thail sellers, security and some guy who helped to stop bleeding. Looks like this is happening all the time and they confirmed this in hospitalā€¦

So I went there with my husband with the idea of just watching the monkeys and minding our own business since the reviews said that if you were haunting the monkeys they would turn agressive. They are agressive REGARDLESS of what you do.
At first my husband wanted to buy some food to feed them which I told him it was a BAD idea, he didnā€™t listen and insisted on buying food. Since I was the one holding the money for the trip I had to open my bag, and as soon as I gave my husband the money he ran to buy the food and left me ALONE in the middle of a bunch of monkeys and one of them tried to snatch my bag from me!!! My bag with money, no food at all in it!!! Thank god there was a guy nearby scaring the monkeys away with a stick and he helped me out, if not I wouldā€™ve been left without my belongings. When my husband came back he could only fees 2 monkeys because the third (a bigger one) snatched the whole bag with food from him (this was funny though). We then started to walk towards the hill and 3 minutes after we heard a lady screaming behind us. A huge monkey was jumping on top of his little kid scaring him to death and the monkey wouldnā€™t jump off the kid. A bunch of people started to help her out getting rid of the monkey and the monkey tried to bite a young woman only because she was helping the lady with the babyā€™s stroller. Good thing she was capable of moving away from the bite! By that moment I was already freaking out and I told my husband I would like to go back and not go up the hill anymore. So we went back to the beginning point where the restrooms are and I was sitting on a bench waiting because my husband was taking some pictures. At that moment there were some other 2 girls waiting there because their group walked up the hill and they were too scared to do it, one of them stood up on the bench just to SEE the monkeys from a safe distance and out of nowhere came a bunch of monkeys towards here in a very aggressive mood!!! She jumped off the bench and even I moved out because I was sitting right behind her. It is a really scary place, donā€™t bring kids, donā€™t bring any valuables not even in a small purse, donā€™t listen to those reviews saying theyā€™re only aggressive if you disturb them because thatā€™s NOT TRUE!!!

Didnā€™t really know what to expect today but what I got out of it was I very steep hill with no assistance or motor transport to get you to the top! Thereā€™s three look out spots all really overgrown so you are unable to take photos after the effort of walking up a small Mount Everest! The top just leads you into a private yard with no lookouts at all just tv towers.

The walk is ok but itā€™s all uphill and if these monkeys know you have food be prepared to be scared to death :-) they will take anything including water bottles and love snatching they have zero manners :-)

Most will think walking with these is like watching Tarzan and Cheetah but itā€™s more like a Zombie Apocalypse at times :-)

Best place is the shop in the car park buy your food and sit in the benches and feed them take your photos and films the walk will leave you exhausted sweaty and achy!

This is truly an amazing trip to Monkey Hill Phuket. I was able to take some incredible photos and videos while I was there. They are widely available and public, I posted them for free.
