Great walks & trails. Beautiful peaceful surroundings. Gorgeous birdsong & rhodedendrums in full bloom. A surprise hidden lake a sight not to be missed.

It was a glorious sunny May afternoon and the rhododendrons were coming into flower and looked wonderful. We were accompanied on the walk by bird song. Yellow flag iris were coming into flower around the edges of the lakes.

There are several way marked tracks through the woods and it is popular with dog walkers. It is a lovely spot. (Unlike the previous reviewer, we were pleased to see there wasn't much litter.

They're great woods but when it's good weather you get too many complete dicks who find it too much effort to take their rubbish back to their cars. What is wrong with people?

This is our favourite place to bring our two dogs. Plenty of off the main track routes to explore, an area with a big pond for the dogs to swim in and the car park is reasonable. If it gets full there is still plenty of room to park on the grass verges.

Our first visit here and what a lovely place for a quiet, steady walk. The grandchildren loved it, they found a stick each and were looking for dens and things off the forest floor to pick up and the dog had a great time too.

Had a nice Sunday afternoon walk there. There is a reasonable sized car park, but it’s soon full. People then park on the roadside (even though they shouldn’t) which makes exiting the car park onto the 50mph road very hazardous because you can’t see along the road either way.
The walk is lovely with thousands of mature rhododendron bushes, which are apparently impressive to see when they bloom in May. We’ve had quite a bit of rain lately, so some parts of the pathways are a bit boggy but passable. There’s quite a bit of wildlife to see and it is dog friendly (that is not code for alleged night time activities!!). We shall definitely go there again (in the day).

OK I know doggy things go on in the car park come the dark night. I do not like it but then again I have not tried it. So I keep an open mind even if my stomach is revulsed at the thought. I say let the authorities sort it out and cleanse the situation.
Anyway, I digress. Let me get to the point of this review.
I love walking around Twigmoor woods. Its blooming marvellous you know.

Came here for a good long walk, excellent place to enjoy peace and quiet away from the rat race. Sensible shoes are a must, the signs are not the best as you walk round so it's advisable not to go off the beaten track as there is the potential to get lost. We had to ask someone the way back to the car park even using the recommended route as some signs either had been knocked over or were just not clear. However we will be back.
