L’ottimo e intelligente restauro post sisma 2012 ha riconsegnato al suo antico splendore la Chiesa Collegiata di S.Maria Maggiore, meglio nota come Duomo.Tempio tardo gotico (1440/70),con un arioso e composto interno a tre navate a volte costolonate. Facciata in elegante stile tardo quattrocentesco risalente al 1855. Alto e slanciato campanile di origine rinascimentale, completato nel secolo XVII. Molte e significative opere d’arte accoglieva, in gran parte oggi non più presenti. Da segnalare l’intensa Crocifissione, affresco di Pietro Annigoni del 1993. Merita una attenta visita.

Finalmente a 7 anni dal sisma il Duomo vieni restituito ai Mirandolesi del tutto ristrutturato,ottimo il lavoro sulla facciata. BEN TORNATO.

E in corso la ricostruzione post terremoto 2012 e finalmente a settembre sarà riaperto al pubblico e finalmente mirandola avrà una chiesa dignitosa.

Ho sempre amato questa chiesa fin da bambina. Ora sta rinascendo la speranza , visto che dopo 7 anni dal terremoto si iniziano a vedere i primi segni di ricostruzione; si parla di riaprirla a settembre prossimo, speriamo! è una chiesa molto semplice, ma estremamente suggestiva.

E' finalmente ripartito il cantiere che nei prossimi 18 mesi restituirà il Duomo a Mirandola. Piegato ma non spezzato dal sisma, sarà il vero simbolo della rinascita!

Visitato il centro di Mirandola, a piedi, sembra di fare un tuffo nel passato, per chi come me arriva dal caos della città . Il cuore cittadino rimane ancora interessato dal grave sisma che ha colpito anche quest’area. È facile vedere i segni del terremoto, quasi ovunque presenti ancora imbragature degli stabili in mattone locale lesionati. Anche il duomo reca i segni inclementi del terremoto. A fianco della chiesa sono visibili sistemate a terra alcune pietre recuperate in attesa di collocazione.
Il disastro non ha minato tuttavia il fascino suggestivo del tempo di questi luoghi, che rimangono interessantissimi da vedere anche sotto il profilo sociologico tipico dei borghi di questo periodo. Avanti la basilica una bellissima piazza, destinata anche al mercato settimanale.

Ci stanno lavorando ma per la maggior parte della superficie il castello resta inagibile dal 2012 data del terremoto avvenuti nella zona .
