Had the best ski holiday here in January 2024 - brilliantly maintained pistes, great lifts and an all round fabulous holiday! Look forward to returning in 2025!

On the website they offer a skipass 5 out of 6 days. I had to start these days on a Sunday, but the office in Santa Christina where one can buy a pass was closed, and the ticket machines do not offer a 5 out of 6 pass. Nicely done.

You can get a ski bus ticket for a week for 10 Euros in most hotels. To my surprise this ticket is not valid for the ride between Saltria and Monte Pana.

Prices are through the roof.
I really enjoyed most of it, but cannot understand why some slopes are perfectly currated and some are left always with a snow like tractors are passing by all day.....(Spaccaossa, Porta Vescovo to Arraba...etc)
We were located in Selva di Val Gardena and have skiied all Sella Ronda, but I was always dreading the fact that I have to drag my skies up the stairs and accross the street to get up to Costa Bella ski lift on foot - an escalator is due if not a whole ski-lift... Safety rails are missing in so many places....we have whitnessed a young man flying off track to the rocks (down-hill from Pitz Boe) if a safety rail was in place, nothing scarry would have happened....

Extensive piste and uplift network. Infrastructure in very good condition and sometimes staggeringly modern and effective. The train through the mountain at Christians is an example.

Brilliant skiing, even late in March. The slopes down from Jimmy Hut tend to be in better shape late in the year. Alternatively you can go to Corvara by a cable car and navigate up to Piz Boe from there, or take a series of bar lifts. Ski rentals are in town – try Sport Pescosta by the bridge.

There is masses of skiing in this area, especially if you like touring.

The lift pass is extensive - as long as you don’t buy the more limited ones you can ski the whole sella Ronda and lots of offshoots so even in a week it is unlikely you will cover it all.

Most of the runs are easy -wide with not too steep gradients, but there are occasional nasty steep and narrow bits and in the afternoon the bits of sella Ronda that everyone goes on are awful because they cut up badly and big moguls are formed by lunchtime. Moguls plus crowded slopes plus skiers who are stuck with no alternatic route =be careful. Out of control skiers are a risk.

The scenery is fantastic.

It’s worth getting a guide to point you to the less busy areas especially at holiday time. Some of the queues at pinch points are horrendous; and the majority of lifts are actually quite slow. Not many covered chair lifts and a lot of 2/3/4 person lifts where in other areas you’d probably see 6/8 seaters.

The mountain huts are not consistent; some are dire with long shambolic queues and not enough people serving; others are excellent but you’d better reserve or go late. Again some local advice is what you need.

Overall though well worth it.

This is a gigantic ski resort. So many slopes to explore. It is comparable with French 3 Valleys in my opinion. Quite a few long runs. Sellaronda is a must! Our family did both green and orange routes. It's better to start the round trip as early as possible so that you will have enough time to relax, admire the scenery and enjoy good foods! We almost missed the last lift when doing green route simply because of starting late and spending a bit too much time in one restaurant...
We got a full week's of sunshine, which is said to be usual according to locals. Temperature has been a bit too high in my opinion. Many slopes became slushy in the afternoon and there were many moguls.
Delicious foods with very reasonable price can be found from any big or small wooden cabins along the slopes. I have never been disappointed by any of those places where I stopped for lunch. Very good reason to make one back to this ski resort again!
