A true alpine skiing experience
Dec 2020 • Family
First time here after inly visiting Niseko. If you are looking fir very challenging slopes, then Happo One is the best in Japan. It feels very special skiing down the Downhill slope from top and you shall stop a higher mid right side abs only remember Hermann Maier crash in 1998. You can see that everybody on all slopes ski very well abs this is no room for any beginners at all. You feel like in the Alps with similar vegetation and stunning Mountain views. The downside is the chairlift and gondolas are 40+ year old abs there has been 0 investment in the facilities. Ski lift prices 20% cheaper vs Niseko. Indeed will be back!

Ski pleasure

I really appreciated the fact that you can move easily by (free) shuttle bus from one resort to another one (about 10 differents ones) with the same lift pass. Happo-one & Iwatake (for the view) were top to me.

Wonderful ski resort
Jan 2020
It is the most popular ski resort in the Hakuba Village. I like the ski resort very much. In Jan 2020, I ski here for 3 days, it is an amazing place. The course has from beginner to advance.

Good fun; great snow

Great mountain; friendly service. Good mountain for all levels of expertise. Even though the quantity of snow was down from most years, the consistency was still like velvet!

Amazing time at Happo One

Great resort! Lifts are spread out so to disperse crowds. Good snow pack with lots of elevation. Such great long runs.

Good resort but weather prone
Feb 2020 • Family
This season was the worst but still decent runs on the top 2/3rds of the hill. Bottom section was closed but this is a rare season (ie never seen it like this before in 8yrs). Lots of variety of groomed runs particularly up higher with lifts in all directions off the gondy. On a POW day, go up the gondy, then take the chair up to Pilar restaurant and there is plenty of freshies of the sides of the grommers for at least a few hours. Then you can go exploring elsewhere if you want. Keep in mind this place shuts a lot of lifts quickly (incl the gondola) in even moderate wind, but you can get a quick shuttle to 47 or goryu which handles bad weather way better (although it is very busy if it’s both bad weather and a weekend).

Great experience for the entire family large resort for Japan
Feb 2020
Even on a poor snow season 19/20 Happo One ski resort provides great terrain for everyone. Not many places in Japan you can experience 1000M of vertical. Also plans of installing a new Gondola which the current one has been here before the 1998 olympics :) Lifts are old however that's part of the culture to appreciate it. Always check winds because Happo can be a prime spot for high wind closures in the Alpine. Give skyline a look fun terrain and a great place mid-week all around Harpo-One

Poor lift arrangement average slopes

I dont know why everyone says Japan skiing is so good, Admittedly it was a poor season & the snow wasn’t great, but the wind shut down the top lifts every 2nd day, plus on weekends the crowds were so heavy we had to go in at 11am - we waited in queues most of that time only getting 3 runs in. My biggest disappointment was that there are way too many young drunk Australians at this place, i likened it to Bali where all the bogans go cause its cheap!!Japan is a great country its a shame some Australians are permitted to travel as they have no respect for other cultures let alone them selves. Ive skied Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, USA, Canada , and didnt see so many Australians as i did in Japan- I can honestly say Canada and USA have the best set up as far as snow resorts go, with awesome runs, great lifts and good accommodation (unfortunately not so good food), plus there aren’t as many poorly behaved Australians

Poorly maintained. Draconian by comparison of most resorts in Japan

Hakuba is now on the verge of destruction. Bus loads of bearded cave dwelling aussies are no showing up on snowboards, doing what they have been known for. Drinking beer in the street dumping their cans on peoples private property ducking ropes and throwing all caution to the wind. Now this is NOT all aussies.. the majority are good people would give you the shirt off their back and they are even honest enough to admit the above. Be it small percentage. All said the food at Happo is sub par. Ramen is good. Its run by inherited family that don't honestly care. Sad to say but you can see that every where you look. Grooming is the worst I have ever seen. Might as well bring your own shovel and a roller. They should have the top groomed right out..but they leave bumps to one side.. wrong... No one's listening there so this review is only to tell you. Go to 47 or Goryu. Its like another planet. Better everything. and I mean everything. This is how a resort should be run. The only thing they don't have that Happo has is a village. Hopefully in time that will change. Be warned the Kangaroo zoo is now open. My japanese friends wife was hit by one broke her leg 3 hours of surgery. Never even stopped. These people are in for a rude awakening if they don't start behaving and obeying the rules. Enough said. now you know.

Better resorts in hakuba
Jan 2020 • Family
Happo one is a busy ski resort with poor snow. The gondola setup was good as you aren't all cramped in but that's it. No tree skiing, bad runs, and there is better snow in let's say Corrina. I would say not to come here and waste a day.
