- AliceConsEindhoven, The Netherlands1 contributionNice but expensiveThe facilities are nice and clean, the personnel was very nice with us. However, the price is really too high for the "pure" experience (without the ritual). You basically just stay in the pool, with no drinks and not other treatment included and you pay 61 euros only for this.Hi there AliceCons, thank you for taking the time to review your Sky Lagoon journey and your kind words about it. - SLM98506Olympia, Washington1 contributionA lovely hot pool near ReykjavikThe descriptions of the Sky Lagoon that I read did did not do it justice. It has benches carved out of the lava rock walls where you can sit and gaze out on the ocean as you soak. The infinity pool is lovely— as you wade out between the carved rock walls from the locker rooms and enter the main pool, you can’t see where the pool ends and the ocean begins. It was fun to go to the bar— it is in a cave/alcove carved out of the rock, and you don’t have to leave the water to order a beverage. They use a state of the art electronic wristband that locks and unlocks the (large, full-length) locker of your choice, and also allows you to buy food, drink, and merchandise without getting out a credit card once you have registered. Be sure to make a reservation, as they keep the number of guests limited to create a pleasant experience. My husband and I chose the “Pure” option—soaking only. It was extremely reasonably priced. FYI, even with the “Pure” option, the beautiful shower room provides individual showers with doors for privacy for each guest. The women’s locker room has hand-held hairdryers (not the wall-mounted kind!) available and makeup lights in the women’s locker room. There are many staff available in each area to answer questions and keep things clean and tidy.Hi there SLM98506, thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review about your Sky Lagoon journey. - Khe17301 contributionKingaEverything was perfect except the Ritual, it was too crowded and loud. We were expecting some quiet, peacfull time during the ritual, and with more then one time entry to the sauna, maybe at least 3 round of sauna and cold water would have been perfect. But the overall experience was really good.Hi there Khe1730, thank you for taking the time to review your Sky Lagoon journey and your kind words about it. - rd20233571 contributionFantastic Icelandic spa experienceAmazing new attraction within Reykjavik area. Really enjoyed coming here with my spouse and friend. The Pure changing rooms are clean, spacious and feel very secure. The experience was completely seamless from the moment we walked in to the moment we got dressed and left. The Sky Lagoon is reachable by public transport from Reykjavik city centre (Which is helpful if you don't have a rented car in Iceland). Spent almost 2 hours soaking in the heated pool and dunking myself in the cold plunge pool before finally going to do the Ritual. Worth every ISK spent on this!Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review about your Sky Lagoon journey. This did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the 7 step ritual. To me, this is what makes their place unique. The staff was very nice and professional. - bribe2023Beacon, New York1 contributionExcellent Experience - Solo TravelerI came to Iceland alone, having never been to a hot spring or geothermal pool of any kind in my life. I thought it was important to try out, and I booked a tour at another hot spring that was canceled by the tour operator. My friend recommended Sky Lagoon, and since I was staying in Reykjavik, I decided to go. My card wouldn’t work online, but the online help chat attendant booked my reservation for me. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff at every point of interaction. Can’t tell you how nervous I was about stripping down and putting on a bathing suit among strangers in a foreign country I was visiting for the first time. But the staff was so friendly and helpful at every turn that I need not have worried about anything. It may have also helped that I went on a cloudy, somewhat rainy night so that I didn’t feel particularly “seen” or awkward or anything. If you go and you’re not sure what you’re “supposed” to be doing at any point, just ask an attendant. Being told/given permission to slow down and relax, rest, not have to accomplish anything was a gift. The pool was _relaxing_, the juice from the bar was delicious (I don’t drink), the cold plunge was SHOCKING but I loved the feeling of my lungs sort of returning to form as I acclimated… The sauna and steamroom were both intense but I swear that feeling the sweat rolling down my body, and having no other thought in my head was strangely joyful. I thought it was weird that everyone brought their phone into the pool. And I highly recommend you do NOT do this. Otherwise, go there, don’t worry about the weather, and relax for a couple hours. You will be rewarded. I should also note that I am a very shy and awkward person, almost no solo travel experience, and I had the stink of fish deep in my body and soul from visiting Heimaey prior to Reykjavik. I had nothing to worry about.Hi there bribe2023, thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review about your Sky Lagoon journey. Both myself and my girlfriend had booked to visit the Sky Lagoon at the end of January this year, after hearing all of the hype about this being a brand new resort opened in 2021. The facilities were decent in terms of the 7-step ritutal, changing rooms and views of the ocean etc, however our overall the experience was somewhat disappointing as the geo-thermal heating system failed on the day we arrived meaning that the water was lukewarm at best before gradually getting colder, yet we were not informed of this in advance by the Sky Lagoon team.
On the day we were there, many reservations had to be cancelled later on during the day due to the cold water. We paid a lot of money for the Sky Lagoon experience (£75 GBP for the more expensive option), and we expected better service. Also a couple of members of staff seemed to be moody and unhelpful, with not being allowed to re-enter the spa area after getting some water to cool down. Blue Lagoon is a better and more enjoyable experience. Maybe on another day our experience would have been better.

Hi there A7969YEbenn, thank you for taking the time to write about your Sky Lagoon journey. We are very sorry to hear that your visit was up to standard. Unfortunately, we received information on short notice that due to a failure in our water supplier's system, we would not have enough hot water to maintain the temperature in the Lagoon. As soon as this happened we contacted everyone who would be affected. We are so sorry that this happened during your visit, we would appreciate it if you would email us at info@skylagoon.is so we can discuss some compensation. We hope we get the chance to welcome you again for a journey through Sky Lagoon as it should be. Safe travels!

Five middle aged friends spent a wonderful three hours here on a Friday afternoon from when it opened at midday. We booked the Sky package online the evening before. This is the top package, and at around £73 it was totally worth it. For this you get a private changing room, which has relaxing piped music, plenty of fresh towels, hair dryer, shower gel, conditioner, body lotion and your own private shower. You also get a rubber wrist band that locks a very large locker and allows you to purchase the drinks without needing to take money into the lagoon - they scan the wristband later for you to pay for any extras. The drinks are very expensive at around £8 for a small beer, but this is the norm for alcohol prices in and around Reykjavik. The Sky package also gives you another six rituals along with entry to the lagoon. These rituals are great and you can spend as much time in each as you want - you can also spend as long as you want in the lagoon itself. We've been to the Blue Lagoon and this knocks spots off it as far as we are concerned, and we would much prefer to visit this if we come back to Iceland. It is much closer to Reykjavik than the Blue Lagoon, and cost five of us around £24 in a taxi to get there. We found it much more relaxing than the Blue Lagoon and the facilities much nicer and more welcoming.

While planning our trip to Iceland we considered several Geothermal Lagoons. Our research and online reviews indicated that Sky Lagoon would be the place to visit and it did not disappoint.
We did the Sky package with the Ritual and private changing rooms. My only issue with the visit is that due to severe nut allergies I could not do the scrub and skipped the rest of the steps so I would not encounter any accidental exposure.
The Lagoon itself was warm and comforting with several seating areas, a waterfall, minimal temperature variations and the infinity edge with a great view. The lagoon was busy but not so much so that you couldn't find a relaxing spot to enjoy. The experience left us wanting more and wondering if we missed anything by skipping Blue Lagoon.
We decided to accelerat our time table to fit in a trip to the Blue Lagoon prior to hitting the southern coast. The difference was night and day as Blue Lagoon was more touristy, with long lines to check in, younger children and higher costs for less value. There was a strong sulfur smell driving up to the parking area and the wind on that day produced significant waves. We also experienced more drastic water temperature differences at Blue Lagoon and the water was much saltier and resulted in facial irritation for a couple of us. In the end the cheaper package at Blue was the same price as the Sky package at Sky Lagoon. Blue lagoon also has an outside area to walk through to get to the Lagoon while at Sky, you enter from a covered area pretty much inside the building. Sky was much better at allowing guests to avoid cold air and wind while entering and exiting which was a much better experience. Blue Lagoon was disappointing so we spent less than a hour before giving up.
The Blue Lagoon experience confirmed for us that Sky Lagoon is a much better fit for us. As the days went by we all agreed to rearrange our final full day in the country to fit in another visit to the Sky Lagoon. Despite all our efforts, we had been unable to see the northern lights so Sky Lagoon was our consolation prize and we scheduled it for at night. Wouldn't you know, upon entering the Lagoon, many people were scrambling to get back to the lockers and others were expressing excitement. As we rounded the bend into the main lagoon, we were greeted by the norther lights dancing in the sky. The perfect end to our trip.

We booked in for 5.30pm the pure package. Beautiful changing rooms with complimentary towels, hairdryer , water and when finished there is individual showering cubicles with shampooand conditioner. We got the 4 & 36 bus there from city centre(10min walk then,)cost 3 euros bit we got a taxi home because it was late so we treated ourselves 25 euro between 3. On entering the lagoon from the changing room, it was just magical and as the sign says you just slow down and relax. We also did the 7 step ritual which I would recommend and try not to skip the cold steps, it was invigorating. The apple cider we had after the ritual was just perfect (pay extra but worth it) Don't forget to take a dip in the waterfall at the other end, we found it by chance. You can bring your phone in and get cover for it but I felt the people that had them did really relax just phones in the air all the time.

We went with tui on the last night of a 4 day break . I wasn't keen as I'm not good at relaxing in general and can't even stay in the bath for more than 2 mins but my husband wanted to try a spa. We opted for the sky pass as it was a Saturday night and I didn't fancy naked showering in a possibly packed changing area. We had a private changing room each with a shower and hairdrying/changing space. Nice big locker nearby to stash bulky coats and boots etc.. you lock and unlock it with a wrist band which you wear during your stay, the band also is scanned at the swim up bar and they charge you for any drinks you had at the end. Don't do what I did and get the sky mixed up with the blue lagoon and thought there was a free drink included haha, I don't drink alcohol so wouldn't have bothered having the Pepsi max I had. You enter the pool straight from the changing area which is nicer than blue lagoon where you have to brave the cold and shuffle into the pool while people snigger at you freezing to death. I have been to the blue lagoon and this is smaller but although it was busy it wasn't crammed and we still had privacy. We bobbed about in the warm pool in line for the 7 step ritual but didn't wait long, I dodged the cold plunge pool but husband braved it. Next is a sauna with an amazing view of the sea, we were there at 6pm ish but there was still time to get a great view before the sun went down. Next is a cold mist room followed by a salt scrub, the steam room and a final shower before getting back in the warm pool. We went on an evening trip so didn't see out to sea much but it was nice leaning over the infinity pool star gazing and seeing the mist rise in the cold air, laughing my head off at husband trying to spot me in the steam after loosing sight of me. We had to leave at 8.30pm but I saw online that people saw the lights from there later on while we caught them back in reykjavik. On the whole, I preferred this to the blue lagoon, it was clean and well organised. Smaller but didn't feel cramped on a Saturday night. Water was warm and all areas were clean, some plastic glasses knocking around poolside which could have been cleared away though oh and why no shampoo in the private changing areas? They charge enough so shampoo please, I had to wash my hair again when I got in as I only had conditioner or shower gel. Nice spa, try it during the day when it might be quieter and if you want to look out to sea or during the night if you want more atmosphere and to gaze at the stars.

What an amazing place! Visited here as it looked a bit less commercial than its very famous blue themed competitor, and the infinity style view looked brilliant. So glad we did! Feels very luxurious, very clean, good changing facilities and lockers. Very handy to get to from Reykjavik. Entering the pool through a grotto was so much fun! Loved the natural style of the pools, and the view really is a knockout. It wasn't too busy when we went at 1.30pm, and it didn't get much busier through our few hours there. We did the ritual as well which was a great experience, though that plunge pool is glacial! The sauna window view is exceptional, tempted to stay there much longer than is recommended! The swim up bar prices are actually very reasonable, and they were selling (loaning? Not sure) waterproof phone pouches for people wanting to photograph their experience which was quite considerate. With the steam and the spacious pool and grottos privacy wasn't an issue. A great place I can wholly recommend!

overall wonderful experience. If you can afford it in your schedule I would highly recommend booking the first open slots at 9am. It makes the experience that much more intimate/amazing with limited people in both the lagoon and sauna. There was a considerably larger crowd in the lagoon after I finished the ritual around 11am.

Hi there brandonwodke, thank you for taking the time to review your Sky Lagoon journey! We're thrilled to hear you had an overall wonderful experience. Booking an early morning slot is indeed a fantastic tip for a more intimate and peaceful visit, and we’re glad you got to enjoy the lagoon and sauna with fewer people. It’s great that the ritual added to the experience before the crowd picked up later in the day. We all sincerely hope we get to welcome you again one day!

If you are torn between Sky Lagoon and Blue Lagoon, I highly recommend Sky! If you can, do both and decide for yourself. Sky Lagoon is a smaller more peaceful experience in my opinion with friendly service. The floors in the changing room are heated and you enter the lagoon from the changing room so you don't have to walk outside in the cold. The showers have stalls and doors. Sky Lagoon has created such at atmosphere that you are totally a part of the Iceland landscape and it is hard to believe you are actually in the city! It is absolutely beautiful! As a side note, I do not have any pictures to post because I think hot springs should be about relaxing and unplugging. So many people spent more time taking photos than embracing the experience. Additionally, if you choose to take photos please be mindful of the people around you. Not everyone wants to be a part of your photo shoot for social media and really want to enjoy a peaceful moment. Please take a few photos only and put your phone away and embrace the true intent of the hot springs experience.

A great place to unwind and relax. It’s only a 15 minute drive away from the main town, and a taxi costs around 4000 krona (one way). I purchased the sky pass including the ritual. When you get to the lagoon, it’s a little unclear where the entrance is, but it’s to the right of the building. You check in at reception, and obtain a wrist band, I got one for the locker and one for the ritual. You have to provide a payment card for any purchases during the trip. The private changing rooms (which you get with the sky pass) were lovely and clean, a tad small for 2 people but there are plenty of shower rooms to use. The locker is big enough to hang up a coat, and a shelf for belongings. If you forget your locker number, there is a screen where you can scan your wrist band to find out what locker number you are. There are plenty of towels to use. Before you enter the lagoon, you have cubby holes to place belongings. You can take your phone into the lagoon, I recommend to use a waterproof sleeve for your phone. You can also take a water bottle to fill up with water at the swim up bar! The lagoon was quiet in the morning but soon gets busy around 12:30-1pm. The views are incredible. You are limited to 3 alcoholic drinks per person. There is a waterfall, and a plunge pool for everyone to use. The ritual was good and included 7 steps. My skin was left nice and smooth after. You get to go back in the lagoon after the ritual. We spent around 3-4 hours in the lagoon, and completing the ritual. Beware of the rocks in the lagoon as I caught my knee on one of them! There is a cafe on site (we didn’t use this) and gift shop which sells skincare products. There is a taxi rank outside the lagoon.
Overall I highly recommend a trip to the sky lagoon.

We chose to visit the Sky Lagoon after reading reviews of all of the other hot springs in the Reykjavik area. Our priority was finding one that was clean, newer/high end, and not one that catered to families with small children splashing around and being loud. Sky Lagoon was exactly what we had hoped, even if it is a tad overpriced. It's in an odd industrial park and definitely man-made, but once you are inside you feel like you are in another world. We opted for the Sky Pass which provides private changing rooms and private showers. This was very nice and worth the extra cost, IMO. The Ritual is included with all but their no-frills/basic pass. It's a lovely experience, but sadly it also prohibits guests from visiting their sauna or steam room more than one time during their visit. If you are a true Nordic spa devotee, you will likely be surprised and similarly disappointed to learn this. All guests have unlimited access to the main lagoon and one small plunge pool. The main lagoon is warm, not hot. Like a slightly cooled off hot tub. The cold plunge pool is a small pool (no more than 6-8 can fit at a time, but there were never that many in it) and it was quite cold!! Loved the body scrub. Very limited cocktail selection at the swim up bar (primarily just wine, beer, water and juices). I wish I had brought a Ziploc bag for my cellphone (others had done so) as it is quite picturesque but also a risky endeavor to carry your phone into the lagoon. We initially had our visit as part of a Golden Circle tour that dropped us of at 6pm and we were to be picked up at 8:30pm, but we decided to stay later and told them we'd get our own transportation back. We ended up staying until 10:30pm! Watching the sunset over the ocean while in the infinity lagoon is an experience we are glad we didn't miss. Given their long summer days, sunset on Aug. 6 was at 10pm so we'd have missed it entirely if had left when our tour group did. There is a taxi line right outside the front door of Sky Lagoon and it was a full line at 10:30, so we had no trouble getting back to our hotel in the central part of the city (around $35 USD).

I've already asked this question, but had no reply so I'm trying again. I'm elderly, have arthritis and my walking is somewhat restricted, are there hand rails at the side of the pool for support?
Written 24 February 2023
Not handrails but you could possibly guide yourself along the rock walls it edge of pool

Are the changing rooms gender separated? If I book this with my boyfriend will we go through the experience separately? And what about the private changing rooms? Would we each have our own private changing room?
Written 9 January 2023
Yes separate by gender. Meet after the change rooms prior to the lagoon

if i book an appointment how long do I stay? Can I stay in lagoon as long as I want?
Written 15 November 2022
Yes you can stay as long as you want, but there is no re-entry to the hot tub once you get out. Once you exit the changing area, you exit to the lobby and cafe and there is no re-entry. Also, if you pay extra for the spa area, once you exit, you can't go back in a second time.
