We were treated to a Tour of the Mining Museum un Casa Pinon de oro, the Town hall, guided by the Mayor, who´s pride in his town is obvious. Mining has taken place here for more than 2,000 years, but hit its peak with the equipment from the British industrial revolution. Time and Raw material prices ended mining here in the 1990´s.
The mine we visited, is NOT claustrophobic, with Galleries 20 metres high, trips are guided and include a hair raising ride on the Tourist Train. Combined with other visits locally and good restraunts gives and interesting day out.

We attended the English guided tour on a Tuesday. As it turned out, my wife and I were the only couple on the tour that day. The guide was excellent, speaking good English and providing a very well informed insight into the workings and history of the mine. This is an excellent attraction and at €8 a head, extremely good value for money. If you have an opportunity, I would strongly recommend visiting.

It is nice to have a glimpse of the mines. The guides will tell you a lot of the history and how the life of the miners was. On Tuesdays and Thursdays you can book an English tour. We did the Spanish one, but if your Spanish is not that good better get the English tour instead.

We visited the mine on a Saturday. Unfortunately there are only English speaking guides on Tuesdays and Thursdays (at least at the time of this review), so we made due. Im sure we would have enjoyed it much more had we understood more of what the guide said, as she seemed very knowledgeable and engaging. The mine itself was fun just to see, and the views from atop the hill are beautiful. I would recommend going.

Well informed staff, good descriptions on show in various languages. Good show of old industries in the area. Sells quaint bits of jewelry. There are two museums one in La Union and the other on way to La Manga, you can also go down the mine to see how people worked. Very interesting. But check if open out of season sometimes only certain days.

This museum gives an overgive over the gloriøs days of the morning Industry centeret around La Union. At the same time you can also visit a few of the mines uphill from the museum and see for yourselfe how the morning was done in those days. A few of the mines are open for a visit and it is very interesting to walk down in the mine, see how the work was done and get a first hand expresion about the , not always good, working conditions.

The mine trip especially was most interesting. Hewed out straight into the hill itself. The whole are is now a monument to a mining industry that finally died in 1990 approx. Some 40 miles of hills literally scoured with the remnants of foormer small mines each employing a handful of people. It must have been a VERY TOUGH LIFE for the former miners. Well worth a visit. They have English speaking guide as well as Spanish.
