This place is naturally beautiful. A monumental stone with important petroglyphs allows you to get in touch with the Taino culture and its enviroment. A popular spot for bathing in the river and cooling off.

Satisfied as I explore my island after so many. I’m a tourist in my own island. Came in to enjoy every single town and to see my Indian heritage Tainos! I left my island at the age of 14 and 32 yrs later I’m back visiting. 🥰

Easy access down to the river through ramp. Don’t miss it! Possibly the most accessible and varied record of petroglyphs you’ll be able to see in Puerto Rico out in the open. I’m surprised it’s not better protected. I myself have jumped to the water hole from the rock, many years ago. People still do it. Check it out!

At Pidra Escrita we foun a huge stone at the middle of the river full of small drawings done by the Taino Indians 500 years ago. You can swim in the crystal clear water of the river and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

An amazing place, a lot of water flowing in the river and very relaxing place. Great view. The facilities near the parking lot looks deteriorated, the restaurant was closed and abandoned. Needs more care, but the view and the rest of the attraction is great, very nice.

This site is a little tricky to access these days, but if you can negotiate the walkway that was damaged by Hurricane Maria, well worth it! Tremendous historic graphics, as yet undeciphered, create awe and wonder. Please enter with respect and leave no trace.

Magnificent and clear petroglyphs are inscribed in this rock, evidence of a culture all but destroyed by invading Europeans. Unfortunately, I saw local young people not only climbing on the rock but walking on the images, contributing to likely long-term damage. It is nonetheless important to witness this evidence of past civilization if you are in the area.

If you have come before or used to live on the island you want to see unique sites visited mostly by locals, jayuya is a small town on the center of the island. The roads are curves constantly but if you don't get car sick is definitely worth the trip. Is a unique place with great parking and beutifull sites definitely bring a camera. Has a trial for handicap that leads to the river right in front of the rock that has Tainos writings.

Incredible writings by the Indians on an impressive boulder that is next to a small river. Cozy area for relaxation and a quick splash. You cannot visit this area without visiting the Indian museum that is down the road.

Ok, this is another thing! The sights, the sounds, everything connects you with something higher... We like to visit La Piedra on "low season" so we can enjoy it to the most. Good thing they close the Lechonera/Bar up in the parking lot. Sorry for the owners, but that distrupt the natural environment you find in there. We prefer to hear the laughter of the people and like to see them enjoy one of our nature's gift...

One of the best wonderful places that i've visited! The historical valor of this place is impresive. You can view here a little bit sample of the big Taino indians legacy. The gyeroglifics on this rock are very preserve is a beautiful place for visit with all the family. Is prefered that you use sneakers beacuase is a river a have rocks and you can slip! Is place is located in the center of Puerto Rico, is a long trail from San Juan but is a nice experience. In this trip also you can visit the 'cemi' museum in where you look a lot of taino pieces. Is very near at same road.
