The cultural experience is not for everybody
Sep 2020 • Friends
The expectations were very high: the beautiful building of one of the most famous Italian poets was reduced to a couple of small rooms, the library and a museum with museographic concepts of the Eighties the absolutely exaggerated cost (18 euros) compared to many other cultural institutions far more generous in terms of assets

Interesting but too fast
Aug 2020 • Friends
The sensation of wandering around Giacomo Leopardi's birthplace is really great, the visit to the library is very engaging. Too bad that the guided tour is very fast and with little information it is the feeling that the groups have to leave immediately from the House this is not very nice

Do you speak Leopardi?

If you are a fond of Italian literature and of Italian Philosophers who have questioned themselves about the purpose of life and their sense of being in our universe, then you must absolutely stop at Recanati and visit Giacomo Lepardi's house and home town. I have been pleasantly surprised by what I gained from this experience. Recanati, houses a museum with multimedia devices that take you on a journey in Leopardi's world; his home gives you an understanding of the environment in which he grew up, how social events and mutations, Scientific discoveries, Religion and Art influenced him. I highly recommend a visit and after this going again through his portfolio.

Interesting exhibition, but very negligent
Aug 2018 • Friends
Very interesting museum of Giacomo Leopardi in Recanati. One room is dedicated to G. Leopardi and other to local artist. His casa has his portrait and face mask. Entrance is by gratitude. Beautiful breathtaking view is from the garden outside his house. Only it is not maintained very well, spiders nets and faded walls in both rooms of this exhibition. We came before the sunset and view on Recanati and its surroundings were incredible.

The visit is mainly the library and some family history. As the current family live upstairs its guided tour only. And to preserve the books no tours if its humid. Worth buying the dvd giovane favoloso to see the history. Wine for sale below.

An inner glimpse into a micro world
Sep 2017 • Friends
We were lucky enough to visit the house of the Poet on a quiet day. With no other visitors except ourselves, we had the undivided attention of an expert guide who answered all our questions.
It's extraordinary to be able to see such a priceless collection of books in its original context. For anyone who is a lover of Leopardi, or for those who are simply fascinated by rare manuscripts, this stop is a must.

Road to the land of the most remarcable Italian Poet together with Dante!
Jun 2018 • Solo
In a personal search of my Italian origins, a recent trip to Italy took me to Recanati. Not only I found dear relatives of mom and the house of my "nonno" what was amazing... but also I discovered the house, the magnificent library of the Leopardis (about 20000 books), the chuch of the small villa, and the Institute of Leopardian Studies. This was a visit of a lifetime. The story of this family is fantastically told by a tourist guide who leads the visit inside the Library. We could see the shelves that hosted the famous Poliglote Bible as well as the forbidden books. Many more treasures are there to be appreciated... dont miss this place! A plus... the inspiring site of the "colle all'infinito"... speechless...

Thrilling to be where Leopardi stood
Aug 2017 • Couples
If you have little time to visit it, be aware that the visit to the house are in groups of 30 people, so once you buy the ticket (you have to wait a bit) they will put you in the next guide available, so have in mind that you could wait an hour or more to begin your visit.
Even so, there's the exhibit of Leopardi's family belongings such as books, coins, flyers, newspapers...it's very fascinating looking at these books with handwritten memos and knowing it was written a century ago or more.
This exhibition is not guided and lasts 30 min circa.
In the house, you'll visit the ground floor because in the other floors discendents of Leopardi live.
You'll enjoy the visit, the guides are well prepared and the house speaks for itself.

It is worth visiting Palazzo Leopardi , the home and Library of the Italian poet and thinker Giacomo Leopardi, a not so well known major influence upon Arthur Schopenhauer and other early XIX C. German philosophers.Tour guides in german and engludh available.

to be there is a must, if you visit Recanati
May 2017 • Couples
the visit takes only 30 min, but worth to be there. you will see the Leopardi family library, with really thousands of well organised books. students and professional need to prior ask for attending to the books. normal visitors can only imagine the richness of this collection, which was opened by Giacomo Leopardi's father in favour of the Recanati inhabitants to promote their their cultural growth
